ORIENTAL PARK RACING INTERESTING Close Finishes Mark Majority of Contests Between Horses of Cheaper Grade HAVANA Cuba March 14 Todays races at Oriental Park were framed to suit the poorer class of racers While the fields lacked quality several of the races furnished interesting contests the win ¬ ners being ridden out to be t their opponents Rockport opponentsRockport finally broke the ice for W C Daly when he won the opening race It was his first victory at this meeting Rockport made all the pace and beat Banyan a couple of lengths It was a close fit between Misericorde Eddie Mo Bride and Miss Ivan in the second race the three finishing heads apart Miss Ivan was going the fastest at the finish After Itlazeaway set u fast pace and showed in front with a lead of three lengths at the eighth post he tired badly and was easily beaten for the third race by Perigourdine Shandon made a runaway affair of the fourth leading by a wide margin At one stage he was ridden out to stall off Beauty Shop which made a threatening challenge challengeAmbrose Ambrose made all the pace in the fifth and took the measure of Gibraltar by a length and a half in a driving finish In the sixth Caballo Minnie II and Terrible Miss1 passed the judges stand in a fighting finish the first mentioned getting the decision by a head headAll All the horses in the stable of J Marrone which were sent to Cuba in charge of C Kuxton will be disjtpsed of at auction in the paddock at the con ¬ clusion of tiie races tomorrow Buxton has ar ¬ ranged to leave for New York next week Jockey weekJockey Koppelman who has been an offender for rough riding was suspended by the stewards for the remainder of the meeting In the fifth nice he had the mount on Lydia III and cut off Jim Hoey The latter went to his knees and all but fell
