Won easily; second and third driving. MAX MEADOWS fenced well, but was outrun until in the last half mile, then was wearing SMITHFIELD down when the latter fell, MELOS fenced well, but lacked speed. NORTHWOOD was eased up when his saddle slipped. His rider turned SMITIIFIELDS head loose when going to the sixteenth fence and as he was tiring at the time ho fell.
