PROSPECTIVE COAST RACING Ten Days Pleasanton Meeting to Precede the Longer Meeting Dated for Reno SAN FRANCISCO Cal April 25 Announcement lias been made tiiat the meeting at Ploasanton will open Wednesday May IS and close Saturday May 28 with ten days racing Efforts are being made to induce horsemen at Tijuana to ship to Pleasan ¬ ton on the way to Reno where tho twentyone days meeting of the recoiity organized Nevada Jockey Club opens Memorial day Monday May 30 General manager W W Finn of the Nevada Jockey riiib is at San Diego and lias met with encourag ¬ ing interest among the owners there Following the Reno meeting the hotses will go north to meetings promoted by Robert F Lcighton and Thomas J Wellman with fortytwo days racing at Van ¬ couver Victoria and other northern towns townsManager Manager Matt OBrien of the Pleasanton meeting plans to give five rac s a day with the lowest purse 300 The sport will IKS conducted In con ¬ junction with a rodeo at which cowlxiys and cow ¬ girls will do some thrilling stunts In making the formal announcement of the meeting OBrien said saidWe We are planning to stage a roilco and turf carnival along lines that will appeal to breeders farmers and the general public The Chamber of Commerce of Pleasanton and the merchants of Livcrmore Hayward and other Alameda County towns are behind the meeting and will cooperate in promoting It in the hope of bringing people from all parts of northern and central California CaliforniaRod Rod Mackenzie owner of the Pleasanton prop ¬ erty will be hero in a few days to take personal cinrge of the preparations for the race meeting meetingThe The Reno meeting promises to be the biggest among the many in the history of the live town over in Nevada General manager Finn says the class of horses will be far above that of any previ ¬ ous season The tidy sum of 2250 will be given in purrs every day Major Sven Christonson proprietor of Meadow brook Stock Farm has sustained a severe loss in the death of his brood mare Decency thirteen years old She died in giving birth to a colt by War Shot The foal also died Decency was a member of the Galopade family and was one of the best bred brood mares in the West She was by the Marlagon horse Martinet dam the Sir Dixon mare Memories Memories dam Merdin is the granddam of Careful Decency was the dam of the twoyear old Plow Steel which lias been racing in good com ¬ pany at Tijuana She was only at the beginning of her paddock career and promised to do something worth while whileWar War Shot premier sire at Meadowbrook is a son of Berenice the brood mare which died recently at W R Cocs Shoshonc Ranch Cody Wyoming Ber ¬ enice was by St Simonian II dam Isis by Bend Or Shotover both Epsom Derby winners
