Pattersons fouryearold Dr Cardenas a son of Golden Maxim Kharemaneh easily accounted for the best race offered by the Exposition Park Jockey Club on the pro ¬ gram this afternoon at the popular Aurora course J Kellers Betty Elvira proved a strong contender and her efforts brought her the second portion of the purse while the Ascada Stables Coeur De Lion took the minor award awardDr Dr Cardenas displayed a liking for the muddy going and racing well up from the start was released from restraint when the field was on the final turn into the home stretch and finding but one opponent in the way Dr Cardenas then set out to wear down the leading Betty Elvira Catching her threesixteenths out Dr Cardenas lost little time in passing her and assuming the lead the son of Golden Maxim then raced to the finish to win as his rider pleased his mar ¬ gin of victory being six lengths lengthsBetty Betty Elvira after having showed the way to the stretch could not cope with the even ¬ tual winners challenge but held on well for second place Coeur De Lion coming with a rush in the final quarter just got up in the final strides to nose out Paula Shay for third place placeTRACK TRACK AGAIN MUDDY MUDDYAll All the races on Mondays card at Exposi ¬ tion Park were under claiming conditions with the exception of the fourth and were contested over a track that was decidedly muddy owing to the rain which had visited the course during the past few days daysThe The riding of the diminutive apprentice jockey L Jenner was one of the outstanding features of the afternoons racing when the lad scored a triple victory Tenners third winner came with the running of the fourth race on C Houbres Dimple Dunkie which triumphed over the small band in a dash of threequarters W S Kilmers Sun Fairy took down the second place after leading until nearing the last seventy yards of the stretch run from where she was outfinished easily by the ultimate winner with the Joliet Stables Captain Donan racing in third position virtually from the start and an ¬ nexed that award with little effort effortA A band of eight maiden threeyearolds met in the opening race at threequarters and it resulted in victory for S T Baxters Stutts which was ridden by jockey V Peter ¬ son and ruled favorite over the seven other starters Lady Corriegarth one of the out ¬ siders raced to the place while third money was the portion of W R Padgetts Wally J Circuit and Wally J were the early leaders and setting a good pace considering the muddy going eventually raced each other into defeat although Wally J held on the better of the pair and was third Stutts was outpaced and raced far back of the leaders to the stretch run where Peter ¬ son outfigured the other riders and took his mount to the extreme outside in the firmer going which permitted the eventual winner to wear down his opponents gradually in the run home and Stutts was up in the final strides to win drawing clear clearFIGHTING FIGHTING COOK FIRST FIRSTFavorites Favorites accounted for two in a row when after Stutts victory in the opener the strongly backed Fighting Cook ridden by jockey L Jenner landed in advance of the others to take the purse in the second race Senor also well regarded took second place while Charcoal an outsider wound up third thirdSweet Sweet Inver flattered at first with a dis ¬ play of speed and was in the lead for the first halfmile Fighting Cook pursued the early leader closely to the final turn and then taking the lead was never headed under her alert rider Senor outfinishing Charcoal narrowly for second place placeAfter After having ridden Fighting Cook victress in the second race jockey L Jenner came back strongly and piloted the Nevada Stock Farms Honeynook successfully in the follow ¬ ing contest making it two winners in a row for himself Honeynook outclassed his oppo ¬ nents in this contest for twoyearolds and scored with ridiculous ease over the five others which made up the field Jenner had his mount away forwardly and quickly raced away into a long lead Approaching the far turn and also entering and during the home stretch racing Honeynook galloped along eight lengths in advance of his nearest opponent and won by five lengths at the finish easing up Indra raced in closest pursuit all the way and held second place safe throughout Governor Seth finished third thirdThe The veteran Make with another good race to take the sixth race at a mile and seventy yards William Diggins raced into second place while Gunsight managed to capture third money Jockey Dillea who was astride Made Up rode his first winner of the rapidly waning meeting The fainthearted Jack Knight and Kinsley which were the early leaders gave it up in the last half of the race the three placed horses then domin ¬ ating to the finish without opposition from the other starters A close finish in which Make Up just lasted and succeeded in out ¬ staying William Diggins in the final strides resulted Gunsight was the most fancied here
