H W FRISCO HOAG DIES SAN FRANCISCO Calif June 10 Horace W Hoag veteran horseman and one of the best known trainers of thoroughbred run ¬ ners in the West suffered a sudden stroke while inspecting a breeding ranch near Sun ¬ nyvale Sunday and died within a short time He had seemed in good health at the time of the stroke strokeHoag Hoag better known as Frisco to his many friends and acquaintances had long been a resident of the Bay District He was a first rate jockey at Emeryville in the old days and jvhen increasing weight forced his retirement from the saddle he took to training For several years he was head conditioner for the late Dr Henry J Ma combers Mira Monte Stock Farm Stable having such great runners as Phusla Sun God II and Girl Scout More recently he trained the runners of John W Marchbank master of Heather Stock Farm and owner of Tanforan Hoag TanforanHoag leaves a widow and daughter the latter a student at University of California
