CALIFORNIA STAKES CLOSE CLOSEThe Closeted The period in which racing can be carried on in the northern states is fast drawing to a close and it behooves horsemen who do not wish to spend the winter months in idleness to be on the alert in planning their winter campaign The fine and valuable stakes offered bythe byte California Jockey Club close next Monday and those who contemplate a visit to the metropolis of the Pacific coast have but scant time in which to enter their horses in these generous offerings Aside from these ten stakes which close Monday sixteen more are to close at a date which Secretary Milroy Milo will shortly announce The Oakland track is one of the finest in this broad land and the winter climate there is ideal Aside from the valuable stakes the purses are fully up to the average of those offered by the Chicago associations so that a winning horse can earn as much on the San Francisco tracks in winter as it can on the best of the western tracks in summer Entry blanks can be had at this office and all entries should be mailed to R B Milroy Milo Secretary 204 Suttur Suture Street San Francisco Cal
