Cromwell beat the gate, met with no inter- ference and fully ran to his form. Greyhurst ran an honest race and was well ridden. Lode Star closed up steadily from a bad beginning and ran a good race. All Smoke, though short, made up a lot of ground and is ready to win in her own class. Milt Young was unlucky and is not quite fit but ran a good race undbr difficulties. It was a sharp tussle at the end between him and Dr. Sham. The latter was badly ridden and will bear watching. Whaleback made up a lot of ground but was badly handled.
