NOTES OF THE TURF. A Chinese jockey named Ah Sam is attracting attention in the turf world in Victoria. He is apparently equally at home over hurdles and on the flat, and recently landed his horses home first in two hurdle races and a flat race at Tambo Valley, the only mounts he had at the meeting. Subsequently at Omeo he rode in seven races, winning three, being second three times and third once, John Madden has bought from J. J. Douglas, of Eothen Stock Farm, the lot of Eothen yearlings whose names were published in this paper yesterday. They are the last of the get of the dead sire of Requital and Madden has cornered the market. If one of the lot should turn out to be as good as Requital was it would be in line with the Madden luck of the last few seasons.
