MOKE RECORDS LOWERED. j | i f The breaking cf two track records and a dis- . qualification of a winner were the principal feat ares of the last day but one of Hawthornes first two weeks meeting. . The track records to go were the mile and the mile and one-sixteenth. The latter was lowered twice durirg the afternoon. Einer ran the distance in 1 :474 in the fourth rare, which took a full second off the best previous performance, which was 1:48, made by Fakir June 7, 1895. In 1 he last race Uarda came along and knocked .iners performance into a cocked hat. She ,ent the distance in 1 :46i. Tenb/ was the gentleman to make a new maik at OLe mile. He carried 105 pounds and -won handsomely in l:39i, lowering Boney B y and Bonnevilles marks of a few days previous, a quarter of a second. Antiquary was the unfortunate horse to be disqualified and although lie was by far the jest of tfce lot he was in with and won by an open length he committed a foul at the bead of the stretch and was justly set back. It was a seven fni long race and Cbeval ilOr, on the strength of his smart second at the same distance to Eugenia Wickes the day before, was installed favorite and backed from 8 to 5 down to 6 to 5. He went out in front the first part of it and tried to stop Antiquary but instead of doing that raced himself to defeat. On the far turn Antiquaiy had everything his own way, but just before the stretch was reiched Bose Apple moved up rapidly. The latter was on the out9irie of Antiquary, who as scon as lhe stretch was reached tried to run out. He, of course, carried Bose Apple with him. Butter, seeing he had no chance to win with the filly on the extreme outside, wasted to time in pulling up and going inside of Antiquary. About the same time that Dupee made this move Butter drew his whip, and Antiquary, who was not up to such a bruising race, swerved in from it and again impeded Bose Apple. To those that saw the race it was dollars to d ongbnuts that Antiquary would be disqualified long befoie Dnpee made his claim. The boy wasted to time after making his weight and the judges acted promptly after hearing both of the b ys stories. Bose Apple, the one that suffered by the interference, was not fortunate enough to finish second, and Pat Garrett, who beat her about half a leDgth, was given the race. Bose Apple was placed second, and Cheval dOr, who ran a bad race, third. Tenbys mile in 1 :39i was the be3t performance of the meeting and stamps him to be the good horse Sydney Bender claimed he was this spring Nutt rode him and a more perfectly judged ride is seldom seen. He waited far back of the pacemakers through the first five furlongs, run in 1 :O0i. and making his move at the three furlorgs post, he was in front when the stretch was reached. It did not take much urging to shake Serrano off, as the early fast pace had cooked him, and, Tenby fighting for his head, romped home four lengths in the lead. There was only one close finish during the day and that was between In Debt and Mitten in the second race. The former was backed from 30 to 1 down to 25 to 1 and less, and Vitatoe by clever band riding clearly outflnished Trotter on Mitten and won by a nose in the very last stride. Thirteen cheap maidens started in the first Tace and it took Starter Dwyer almost twenty minutes baforehe could get tbem away. Tulane was fortunate in getting off in the first flight, and, having good lack throughout, won in a drive from the 60 to 1 chance, Title. | f . . Einer, at the liberal price of 44 to 1, won the fourth race, running away and Uarda took the final one in the same manner. There will be a clerk at Hawthorne at 10 oclock this a. m. to take entries for Mondays Harlem races. Jockey Everett left last night for St, Louis to ride Billy House in the Derby today.
