PRESIDENT WHEELER DEAD. George Henry Wheeler, president of the "Washington Park Club, is dead. For some months past his health has been such that it ha3 been feared his days were numbered, -a fear that has been sadly realized. He was the second president of the Washington Park Club, his sole predecessor in the office having been General Philip H.Sheridan. Mr. Wheeler was eminent in the highest business and social circles of the metropolis of the west, as well as being a commanding and dignified figure on the turf. As a racing center of the highest order "Washington Park attained its greatest fame and prosperity during the period of his incum-bjncy, the memorable meeting of the Worlds Fair year having been b?yond controversy the greatest and in all respects the most successful race meeting erer held in America. President "Wheeler was a courteous, cheerful gentleman .and a good citizm. That he has been called upon to pay the great debt while yet in the prime of life will bring sadness to hundreds of turfmen who have been the recipients of the kindly consideration it was bis nature to give.
