H1WTHORNE RACING. Monday in Chicago is growing to be a good Tacing day about up to the level of the other days of the week in point of attendance and general interest. It Mas surprising to see the big crowd that wa3 on hand at Hawthorne yesterday afternoon, There was no especial racing feature, bat the card all the way through was well balanced and held out promise of excellent racing. Jockey T. Burns carried off the honors. He Jiad four mounts and won three races. This is a good record. His winning mounts wore on .Flamora, Golden Rule and Sea Lion. That Burns has the other riders at the track beaten in riding skill is a certainty. It was clearly demonstrated in the second event. The race was at five-eighths for two-year-olds and Barns rode Flamora, the natural favorite, and wou, but the filly that finished second. Alice Turner, wa9 the best and with the same .kind of a ride that Flamora got would have won by a length or more. Burns ride all the war through and his finish especially on Flamora was a high.class piece of horsemanship. He got away well with the filly but discovered that Sam Fallen had more speed than she had and then cleverly dropped in behind him until the stretch was reached. Hero he made his move and stole a march of a couple of lengths on the others and for an instant had things his own way. Then along came Alice Turner with a rush and quicker than a wink Bhe was at .Flamoraa sadjlegirth. Burns never for an instant got rattled but rode likd a demon with his hands an l heels. On the other hand Lines seemed to lose his wits and wobbled all over his fillys back. This of course was more of a handicap than a hslp and Alice Turner, struggling on her own coarage, could not quite get up and Flamora got the verdict. Burns came back to the stand to weigh in with a broad smile on his face and the reception he got from the crowd was hearty. Mr. Corrigans good -two-year-old, Golden Bule, won the three-quarter youngster race away off by himself. Tnit. young horse carried 111 pounds aud stopped three-quarters in 1:141 as he pleased. He is possessed of phenomenal speed and can perhaps beat any of tho two-year-olus at the local tracks with weight up. Florizar finished second to Golden Rule ana Tarhill thiid. Over Nickey D.s win in the third race the ring was. hit hatd. Nickey D. has shovtn fine speed in all of hiB local races and taking everything into consideiation 20 to 1 waa a false price against him. This, however, was the opening quotation against tho colt but before 108 1 time lie wad backed down to 12 to 1. That Nickey I, was a "good thiug" was evident before half the journey had been.run. He got off in front and, stepping the first half in 471 seconds, was far cnongu in front to run at ease the rest of the way and evontually won quito handily by three-quarters of a length fiom Mizpttb. and Algarcta. On Mizpah Viiitoe rode i rather a weak race. The steeplechase was won in a drive by about a length by Iricotriu, a 6 to 1 shot. He was clevdriy ridaon by Meagher and came away haudily ia the stretch. Turee Fo.ke, on which G. Wilson iode another rough race, finished second and bollamy, the 4 to 5 favorite, was thud. Then was no serious accident in the steepiochasd. Judge Keeuau lust bin rider at the last fence ana Van Brunt bol.ed at the second. Tub first and last races were both at ooe mile. Tuere was a very ordinary lot in the first aud Aatur, a 9 to 1 snot, won easily from Pitfall. Sea Lion was a 21 to 1 favorite for the last race and ha won very easily. Jockey Beauchamp has been suspended by Judge Rees indefinitely. The judge said last night that the boys work lately ba9 been suspicious and several of his rides would be investigated.
