NOTES OF THE TURF. The broodmare Mariposa, foaled 1869, by Jack Malone Nubia, by Albion, out of Corset, by Epsilon, etc., th6 property of Gon. W. H. Jackson, died at tho Belle Meade Stud recently, at the advanced age of thirty years. She was one of the best broodmares America has ever produced. During her stud career she had sixteen foals, among them Beatitude, Bliss Boulevard and B:atiice, by Bonnie Scotland and Swift, by Great Tom. Talbot Bros crack colt John Bright, while being worked a day or two ago at Latonia, went lame and may not bj fit to race again for some time. John Bright has not baen doing so very well in Mb work of late. The day he went lame he went a mile in the slow time of 1:59. Major Dargerfield, of Castletou Stud, says that so far as he knows thoro is no truth in the story telegraphed from Lexington to the effect that Messrs. Keene and Whilney intend to remove their thoroughbred horses from Kentucky to New Jersey. The program for the fall moating of the Havana Jockey Club, beginning Octobar 22, has just been issued. It includes two steeplechases. A new track has bean obtained at Quemados, and special trains will be run from Havana to it. As will be seen by the firms advertisement, Clohesty and Co., well known as bookmakers furnishers, have removed to the old Times Building on tLe corner i.f Fifth avenue and Wash ng-ou streot. Han dOr promises to be a hard hoisj to b at this fall at Latonia. Crit Davis, his trainer, is j very much pleated with his trials of late and j will have the old horso tit when the Eeason opens. j Sydney Paget has purchased from Deimel and Farrell, for English parties, the brown colt, awiftmas, 4, by Candlemas Nell Swift. He will be sent to England and put to jumping. Ten bookmakers did business in the Oakland ring Saturday and the attendance was g:od. T. H W.llif mi and A. U. Sprecklea actel as stewards of tho day. Jame3 R. Keene, F. R. Hitchcock and James Galway will be the stewards of the approaching Morris Park meeting.
