ENGLISH YEARLING PRICIS. Many yearlings are annually cold at Don-caster during tbe progress of tbe meeting and as illustrating the high prices they frequently bring as compared with American results, the following from a special to a New York newspaper should prove of interest : "The record was made by Mr. J. Simmons Harrisons magnificent cbestnut colt, Silver Bay, by B6nd Or, out of Silver Sea, she by Hermit, out of Stray Shot, by Toxopholite. Silver Sea is a full sister to Penitent, dam of Ravens-bury, and to Shotover, winner of the Oaks, and dam of BulliDgdon. Sir Edgar Vincent and Mr. Raid Walker were the contenders, with Sir John Blnndell Maple, but tbe last named proved the best stayer, and got the colt for 5,000 and would have gone to "0,CC0 bed it been necessary. Other good prices in Mr.- Harrisons lot were ,500 for the Mt. Serf Orlet colt, ,400 for the Orme Pamela colt, 1,050 for the Best Man Barletta colt who has been named One of the Best, ,250 for the colt by Orme of Kendal Stirrup Cup, and ,E0O for the Bend Or Irish Melody filly. "Sir Tatton Sykes offered a choice batch cf Sledmere youngsters, four of which aggregated 5,000. The splendid filly by Isinglass, out of La Fleche, provoked spirited competition, and was eventually taken by Mr. J. W. Lantech for 3,000. Mr. Larnach owns La Veine, the Morion filly, which was La Fieches first produce. Sir Tatton gave 3,CC0 for La Fleche at the dissolution of the .stud .of the late Baron Hirsch in 1896. He received 3,500 for her Morion colt of 1897,which makes him net 6,500 for bor I two foals thus far dropped at Sledmere, Lar-nack also buying La Veine as a foal at the Hirsch sale for 5,500. "Thus we find Mr, Larnach giving no less than 2,000 for all three of La Fieches foals, from which it would seem that he is quite likely to stepupandboy each La Fleche yearlirjg annually, doubtless in tl e belief that she must eventually throw a crack. "Sir Tattons 8t. Simon Mimi colt went to Mr. G. Beatty for 3,000. The preceding relatives of this youngster have been virtual disappointments, but exports agree that this fellow considerably outclasses them all. Mimi originally cost Sir Tatton about 5,OCO, but he bas gotten all this back with handsome interest. Sir J Blnndell Maple gave ,750 for the Kendal Chryt alis colt, full brother to Laodamia, and Mr. R. Marsh gave tbe same sum for the Isinglass Claribelle filly, which many experts preferred to the La Fleche filly."
