NOTES OF THE TURF. Charles F. Dwyer writes that the game is good on the other side of the water. The yearlings which he had purchasad in Kentucky before leaving for England arrived there safely and he expects to carry off some of the honors with them in the two-year-old events next sea-Bon. A colt by Lamplighter and an Albert colt weathered the voyage well, and these two especially are expected to make a fine showing. He says Riley Grannon has lost heavily, and will be a long time recovering himself, as he is only betting a hundred to a race where he formerly wagered thousands. Morning Telegraph. A number of bookmakers and their clerks leave Sunday for Cincinnati to attend the Newport meeting. Amorg them are Peecb, McCall, Johnson, Slocum, Hughes, Laudeman, Zimmor, May and Austin. On pleas of guilty to the charge of conducting poolrooms, eighteen Philadelphia bookmakers were sentenced last Monday to pay a fine of 00 each and serve three months in prison.
