Hub Pratber had bad luck and this considered he did well. Holdup did not show hi9 usual flash of speed. He was strongly ridden at the finish. Conley fairly lifted the gelding home. David got a flying start, showed all his old-time speed, but tired badly under pressure. Rigby would perhaps have done better had he not gone to the whip. When he applied it to David the old horse swerved badly. The boy may have been weak, too, from reducing. As the race was run Monongah was tho best. Patterson went to sleep on him at the post, and in the first eighth of a mile dropped far out of it. Through the stretch Mononaah mode up much ground, and at tho end was fast catching the tired pair in front. Prestar conld not handle the weight. Jackanapes does hotter on a fast track. Brulare ran a bad race.
