DONE AT LAKESIDE. The racing season, so far as Chicago is concerned, closed yesterday at Lakeside. The fields were on paper unusually large, bat scratches were plentiful, and consequently the numbar of starters was not above the average despite the fact that it was "get-away day." Secrotary Nathanson offered two handicaps one at three-quarters of a mile and one at a mile. The six furlong event furnished a cracker-jack of a race, but the mile handicap was a soft thing for Banish. Banish was heavily backed at about 2i to 1 and won all the way. He got off flying, and from the time that the flag fell to the end there was never a bit of doubt as to which horse would win. Banish was always in front and the further the field went the greater did he make his lead. Brownie Anderson finished second and Dearing third. The six-furlong handicap went to Maud Wallace, This filly was backed from 10 to 1 down to 8 to 1 and it is safe to say that her owners, Keith and Patton, "changed in" on her victory. The filly broke sixth and remained there to tha three-quarter post. Then W. Scott cut loose, and passing Hugh Penny and OConnell like they were tied, won quite handily. Mr. H. Robinson was decidedly in it.: He Btarted two horses, Jimp and Walkenshaw, and scored with both. Walkenshaw was a 4 to 1 chance, with Uarda, Double Dummy and Tillie W. to baat, among others, and despite the strong Bupport given him the public stuck to Double Dummy. However, Walkenshaw was "Hawkins Ho3s" and he delivered the goods like a gentleman. Ha was always second and when the pinch cams he passed the pacemaker, Uarda, like a skyrocket. After Walkenshaw won he was run up 00 over his entered price and bought in by his owner. "Heck" Bloom, "Clem" Creveling and Mr A. C. Clark must have "cleaned up" strongly-over Hermosos win in the initial five an! a half furlong race. For some roasoa Hermoso was a 5 to 1 chance, and as he won away off by himself with Mclntyre whipping, it was, in track parlance, "a shame to take the money." Little Jack Horner was second and Andes third to Hermoso. Tom Hayes was not satisfied with winning two purses Tuesday, and to make sure of "winter money" he sent Bed Cross II. to ths post in the fifth race and had the pleasure of seeing him wia a creditable race from Fiorina! II. and Olekma. Jimp performed a surprising feat when in the closing dash of a mile and a quarter he brought about the downfall of the top heavy favorite George Lee. It was about tha bast race Jimp ever ran, and it may turn out that he will prove to ba an extremely useful four-year-old next year.
