NOTES OF THE TURF. Col. W. S. Barnes, the well-known breeder of Lexington, made the largest number of entries to the Kentucky Oaks, having nominated no less than eight fillies. He is a stanch advocate of stakes for fillies and shows his appreciation of them in a tangible fashion. Barney Schreibars horsas have been released from suspension by the Oakland authorities but the licenses of trainer Williams and jockey Ward have been recommended to the Turf Congress for revocation and the suspension of both is continued indefinitely.
