Silverdale wa6 skilfully saved during the long delay at the post and won like a good colt. Burns had a stout hold of his head all the way. Cluster was under pressure through the entire route and Boland flogged him for all he was worth in the stretch. Bill Massie ran his race at the post. Powers was unable to manage him and in several breakaways the gelding almost jumped the outside fence. The field was badly strung out all the way. Kentucky Babe seemed to fancy the heavy going and on the far turn went to ; the front on call. Sarilla, after being badly interfered with at the start, made up a lot of ground . and ran a good race. Wilkersou was out to the last ounce and swerved badly in the stretch. Grey Forge had bad racing luck. Lee King seems to be of little or no account. He was well ridden and had no excuses whatever. Won in a long hard drive of two. Trebor ran a very game race and wa6 powerfully ridden at the finish. The same strong ride in I the closing fifty yards would have won for Dieudonne. Walsh did his best and handled the colt , cleverly but he got tired when the pinch came and was lucky in not falling off. Dieudonne was 1 also bumped and interfered with on the first turn and was perhaps best. Possum seemed to be 1 running easily in the stretch but when Winkfield set him down he stopped almost to a walk. Indian acted meanly at the post and seemed to sulk. Winner — B. f, by Scorpion— Lindolette. Wrent to post at 4 :40. At post 7 minutes. Start good. Won easily at the end after an early •drive ; second and third were under keen pressure. Larkspur was much th« best and had to be to win. Gilmore, on Fieuroti, bumped into and almost threw Larkspur at the start. The filly J was again sharply interfered with on the backstretch. When she got clear sailing, however, she went to the front like a shot and at the end was hard held. Reseda ran a good race but WM i tiring badly at the end and barely lasted long enough to get second place. Fleuron lost much 1 ground by making a wide stretch turn. Aurea ran well. So did Maydine a6 far as she went. . The latter was much used early and had nothing left to finish with. Scratched— 17697Shrove Tuesday, 103; 176762Scarlet Lily, 101. Zelmet went to the front when ready on the far turn and simply cantered I home. He is a fair horse in the mud. Glen Lake is a coward and at the end under punishment t was tiring badly. Vain showed a lot of speed. He appeared dangerous on the far turn, but t when straightened away for home seemed to tire and then came again in the last fifty yards with a 1 smart turn of speed. The race was strictly between the first three all the way. Scratched — 17723 Mac Flecknoe, 97. Overweights — Vain, 34 pounds. Zelmet, place, 4 to 5; show, 3 to 10. Sound Money ran a crack-a-jack race. He got all mixed up at the start and never got straightened out until the stretch was reached, then i he Cuuahed with a tremendous rush.
