Imp could never get up. She did not show her usual speed and Clay was at work at her all the way. Vulcain ran a fine race and was drawing away at the finish. He was a good horse today. It was a hard struggle between the two throughout the last quarter but Brisk hung at the end. Bangor ran a fairly good race. Rare Perfume was used too much in pace setting up the hill and tired in the stretch run. Free Lance ran poorly. Scratched— 17732 Einer, 108. Overweights— Free Lance, 1 pound. Won driving ; second the same, lldrim was finely ridden and well placed thioughout. OConnor 6aved grouna with him at the turn for home, and the colt finished with great resolution. Contestor displayed great speed and ran a fine race, but tired slightly at the end. Herbert was possibly tho best horse in the race, and with an even send-off would probably have won. He got off badly and went all around the field in the run up the hill on the backstretch. Standing showed early speed, but tired in the last half as if short. All Gold ran a fair race. He came very fast in the run home and was drawing away at the finish. Missionary was unlucky. He was cut off and knocked about at the furlong post and OConnor had to take him back and come around on the outside. His Royal Highness showed a high turn of speed, but could not carry it over tkree-quarters. King Barleycorn sulked all the way. Maribert ran well, but weakened in the final rush. Maiden made up a lot of ground and came with a fine rush through the last sixteenth. He is speedy and improving. Cherries was always in a good position, ran well, finished stoutly and had no mischances. Goddess of Night displayed great speed. She is not at her best as yet and appears to be of the improving type. Fleetwing finished well. Pathfinder was gaining at the end. Mauga was much knocked about and never got fairly settled in her stride. Scratched— 17595 Zenaide, 105. Overweights— Mauga, 1 pound.
