He appeared to be winning at the eighth po«t but was tiring at the finish. Bean showed considerable early sped but was outclassed and tired hi the stretch run. Semper Eadem and Eitholin having a hot fight for second place. Semper Eadem ran the best race she has yet run at the meeting. Tolstoi was prominent when the stretch was reached, but gave it up badly. Teucer displayed fine speed, but was made too much use of in the early part of the race and had all he could do to beat out Gibraltar at the finish, the latter running a good race. Banished showed speed in the first quarter, but is evidently short. Boland was kicked at the post and obliged to dismount, but remounted after a short rest. The others cut no figure.
