Winner— Ch. f, by Silver Fox— Asteria. Went to post at 2:15. Oil at the first break to a perfect start. Won easing up; second and third handily. Sister Fox was the best of a bad lot and held the others safe all the way. Cora Havill II. displayed a loudness for mud and ran a surprisingly good race. Refugee broke Hying, had clear sailing, and did his best, which was not much. Zacatoso was bumped and jostled on the first turn and treated roughly throughout. This considered, his raee was a good one. Satan snowed some speed, but retired early. It was a tired lot behind the first three at the finish. Winner— Br. c. by Esher— Silk Gown. Went to post at 2 :40. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won driving and out to the last ounce ; second and third also driving to the limit. Garry Hermann seemed to get away all in a tangle and it took him a long time to settle down into his stride. In the meantime Money Muss, who is a quick breaker, gained a commanding lead and it took Garry Hermanns best efforts to overcome it. Perhaps the latter dislikes the mud. At any rate, he swerved badly and repeatedly from the head of the stretch home. At about the sixteenth post Garry Hermann swerved over in front of Kid Cox, almost causing a foul. The latter was interfered with to a certain extent, but not enough to call for judicial action. Money Muss is a good, honest youngster and seems to run well in any kind of going. Robert Waddell ran a fair race. Sad Sam was never dangerous. Scratched— 17818The Cuban Girl, 110; Cora Moree, 107. Garry Hermann, place, out. Money Muss, place, 7 to 5; show, 2 to 5. Winner— Br. h, by Himyar— Briar. Went to post at 3:10. At post 12 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly; second driving and out to the last ounce; third and fourth driving also. Abe Furst was ridden to perfection and ran a smashing good race. Knight waited cleverly with the horse until the stretch was reached then he went to and passed Braw Lad like a Hash. The latter gat away flying and displayed a fine turn of speed. Caywood used him entirely too much going down the backstretch and when the finish came Braw Lad had nothing left to finish with. Caywood also resorted to doubtful tactics in the stretch. He tried to carry Abe Furst out and also hit the latter over the nose with his whip. Barney F. ran well and finished stoutly. Orion shot his bolt early and quit badly in the stretch Little Reggie made up ground throughout. Damocles seemed lame going to the post. He reveled in the going, and set a terrific pace, which only himself could stand. From the head of the stretch home the colt simply loafed. John 1 Baker had all of his speed and ran a good race. Boney Boy was much used trying to catch 1 Sam Fullen, and tired quite badly in the run through the stretch. Malay hardly ran up to his ; best form, still hie race was far from being a bad one. Hoods Brigade about ran his race. Both 1 Myth and Eva Rice were dull of speed. Scratehed-15261 Tenby, 111 ; 17857 Red Pirate, 107. Overweights— Sam Fullen, 24 pounds. Winner— Ch. g, by Harry OFallon— May Kennedy. Went to post at 4 :25. Off at the first break to a good start. Won eased up; second and third I were doing their best. OCounell is in flue form and was in a soft spot. He galloped all contenders .* into subjection in going the first half, and from the head of the stretch home had an ea6y time of it. Dr. Walmsley was far outrun in the first part of the journey but when he got into his s stride he made up much ground and about ran his race. Maggie Davi6 closed strongly in the last t three furlongs. Hrulare made a strong bid for third place on the stretch turn but tiling at the e end. Both Inlook Bad Emma M. are fast but neither is stout hearted. Ed Gartland II. seems to 0 be of little or no present account. Winner -Ch. c, by De Beauvoir— Fanny Lyons. Went to post at 4:55. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily; second and third were hard pressed. Owensboro seems to be a useful selling plater and has a fondness for heavy going. Rose rated the colt cleverly in front and after Holdup cracked lie had everything his own way. Schnell-laufer had no excuses and ran a good race. Monk Wayman seems to be improving but is nowhere near as good a horse as he was last season. Holdup improved on the muddy track. Mud is his forte. Flick made a very weak effort on Admetus. Throw this race out for him. The others plodded along Indian file and were never factors. . Winner— Blk. h, by Dochart— Pearl Street. Went to post at 5 :20. At post 7 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly at the end after an early-drive ; second and third were all out. Walkenshaw was best and best ridden. Narvaez got off finely, was always in a good position and did quite a clever bit of jockeyship at the head of the stretch. At this point Evelyn Byrd was crowding YValkenshaw pretty close and Narvaez, fearing the fillv would beat him, pulled to the outside and hit Evelyn Byrd a terrific bump. The latter bounced off from Walkenshaw like a rubber ball and after that never really got into her stride again. At that she ran a greatly improved race. Tillie W. finished gamely under punishment and is in winning form. Louisville suffered from bad handling. The first four were the only contenders.
