Winner— B. f. b Wadsworth— Jo.-ephine. Went to post at 2 :15. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won driving and out to the last ounce: »econd and third doing their best. Janowood got away flying, had good racing luck and displayed great uniucnO— i at the end when the pinch came. With a better judged ride Tenny Belle could not have lost. Narvaez hustled her to the front on the far turn, lost much ground by turning wide at the head of the stretch, and when the filly was tiring, foolishly drew his whip, causing Teuny Belle to swerve badly. Thi cost her the race. Had Narvaez sat still and nursed the filly instead of applying the whip, Tenny Belle might have lasted long enough to win. Cinera got away poorly and never had a winning chance. Ross rode her hard all the way. but she seemed dull of speed. Kdith Q. ran a fair sort of a race. Bonitary is a slow beginner and never | really got to going in full stride. Scratched— 17752 Grace Cup, 104; 17841 Wampago. 113. Overweights— Janowood, 3 pounds. Jim McCleevy took the longest route and ran a good game race, coming with a terrific rush in the last furlong. Major Mansir was undoubtedly the best. He was poorly ridden, sharply interfered with several times, and at the end finished stoutly on his own courage. When the latter started through at the head of the stretch he was sharply impeded by Miss Patron and Free Hand. This seemed to rattle Weir and he was helpless thereafter. Rose whipped Rosavannah from the half-mile post home. Elsie Venner improved suddenly and ran a good race. Papa Harry finished strongly. Free Hand and Miss Patron had it hammer and tongs all the way and at the end both were tired enough to lie down. Barney F. v as never prominent. Winner— B. f. by Willie L.— Una. Went to post at 3:15. Off at the first break to a good start. Won cleverly. The next four behind the winner were driving to the limit. Emma K. was cleverly handled and won like a filly of fair class. Golden Rattle, off all in a tangle, took the longest route and from the half mile post made up a lot of ground. Everything considered, Golden Rattle ran a cracking good race, innovator did well under poor handling. Bergens best riding days seem to be over. Miss Shan-lev " showed a lot of speed, but tired in the run home. Frangible had a rough journey. Alpaca ran below the mark. In fact her race was decidedly out of line. Emma M. is fast but possesses ■ little or no stamina. Emma R. was run up to ,000 by Frank Doss. Brenock retained her by r standing the 1900.sh raise. Winner-Ch. h. by Sir Dixon— Prairie Queen. Went to post at 4 :10. Off at the second break to a good start. Won hand ridden and out to the limit: second and third were doing their utmost. Orimar showed fine speed and won a well-earned - victory. He was stopping at the end and may have been a trifle short. Walkeu-shaw - is at his best and under a good, strong ride ran a game race. Narvaez punished him from 1 the head of the stretch home and the horse never flinched. Prince Blazes improves with every r race and is about due to win. Moroni hung in the run through the stretch. Imperious was 8 crowded close to the rail down the backstretch and Enos was obliged to take him back in order r to prevent an accident. Bradford, on Prince Blazes, was the canse of the crowding. Man of f Honor is not near ready to run his best race. Walkenshaw was scheduled to carry 106 pounds s but after betting had been in progress some time it was discovered that his weight should be 111. . Won oasing up; second and third d cleverly, iarry Hermann again showed his superior quality and won as he pleased. Denizulu u looked daugerou- at the head of the stretch, but Knight was simply playing with Flick, and d *hen Garry Hermann got ready he shook Denizulu off like a duck shakes water from his back. k. Battus ran a fair race, and Kid Hampton a poor one. The latter showed some speed, but could id not carry it far. and is probably strictly a mudlark. Skipwith had the worst of the start. Winner— Br. h. by Free Knight— Rhadamantha. Went to post at 5 .05. Off at the first break to a good start. The first three were under keen pressure. Bright Night won a lucky race. Miller stole up on the inside with him at the head of the stretch and while Narvaez, on Woodtrice, was wasting time bumping and interfering with Blue Lick he paid no attention to Bright Night and allowed Miller to steal a march on him. Woodtrice was in danger of being disqualified nd the judges held a long consultation after the finish but eventually let the race go as it stood. At the head of the stretch Blue Lick made his run and appeared all over a winner but Narvaez pulled in on him an_ hit him a terrific bump. This knocked Blue Lick completely off his stride and mined whatever chances he had. After the bumping Blue Lick made another spurt but he got pinned in between Woodtrice and Bright Night and Caywood was obliged to pull up. Holdup ran a fair race. So did Wood ranger and Tyrba as far as they went. Scratched— 17857 Glonoine, 115: 17896:;Refugee. 111. Bright Night, place, 10 tol ; show, 4 to 1. Woodtrice, place, out. Blue Lick, place, out.
