• • ■ . i i JOHN BRIGHT. John Bright, who is undoubtedly the best handicap horse in the west, will most likely be shipped to Sheepshead Bay and race in the great Suburban Handicap, which will be run the middle of June. John Bright is in the Suburban with 119 pounds, and, from his present form, he has a great chance to capture the classical event. At present the son of Sir Dixon is in grand form, and if he does not go off, and starts in the Suburban, he has a royal chance to win it. John Brights clever handling of his 127 pounds in the Turf Congress Stakes marked him a grand horse, especially as the going was very heavy aud would have been sufficient to have beaten any horse but a first-class animal. F. S. Goodwin, of the Official Turf Guide, was a visitor at Latonia yesterday, and saw John Bright win the Turf Congress Stakes in such race-horse fashion. In speaking of John Bright, Mr. Goodwin said : "John Bright has a great chance to win the big Suburban Handicap, as he only carries 119 pounds, and. in his present form, is the equal. if not the superior, of any handicap horse in the country. I am of the opinion that if he retains his present form until the Suburban is run he will win this event, and Jean Beraud, Ethelbert and Imp can not give him eight or nine pounds and a beating. He is too good a horse at present, and his owners will do well to ship him to Sheepshead Bay at once so as to keep him on edge. I am pleased to see Latonia doing so well, and the crowd reminds me of the old days. This is a fine showing for such a threatening day."— Cincinnatti Commercial-Tribune.
