J® ent to post at 8:15. Off at the first break to a good start. The first two were driving hard *° and out to the last ounce; third and fourth were doing their best. Mitten, fairly well ridden, barely lasted long enough to stagger home. Tltere was a great deal of luck connected with her *? victory. She had the best of the going all the way and also had clear sailing. Scarlet Lily was JJ undoubtedly the best. She got anchored in the deep going on the far turn and dropped back to :? sixth place. Dupee then took her out in the center of the track in the good going and the filly j? closed a big gap rapidly. Considering it was Myrtle Gebaurs first start this season she made a J; good showing. Zeriba showed plenty of speed, but swerved badly in the stretch. Fannie Leland !j was short. Giftie was on the inside in the worst going all the way. Mitten, place, 3 to 2 ; show, 3 to 5. He never was fully extended and from the head of the stretch home fairly played with the others. Alice B. made up a lot of 1 ground suddenly from the half mile post to the head of the stretch and ran a good race, lnno- 1 vator did not seem to have the same dash and vim about him as he did in his last race when he 1 ran away from Braw Lad with more weight up. Shrove Tuesday was anchored in the deep going all the way. Tayon broke flying and showed a sharp turn of speed. 1 Overweights— Vain, 1 pound. Vain, place. 1 to 2. Went to post at 3:15. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily : second the same, j third driving. Alcedo took the longest route, but by doing so avoided all interference and got 1 j the best of the going. For an instant at the head of the stretch Alcedo was under pressure, but 1 at the paddock he passed Larkspur like a flash and at the end was eased up. Larkspur had no excuses and about ran her race. Donna Rita closed a tremendous gap in the stretch. This mare ? is rounding into form and will probably win a race soon. Malaise showed a lot of speed and , with a better rider up would have been third. Boland rode a bad race on Hard Knot. He had 1 - | him in and out and all over the race track. Do not count this race for Hard Knot, and mark him for early action when the track becomes dry. The others are not worthy of mention. Overweights— Orlandine. 41 pounds; Larkspur, 14. Won easily at the end after an ean.. drive; second and third were under keen pressure. Farmer Bennett was the best and had to be ,p to win. It looked as though the other jockeys were trying to see how often they could shut it Burns off and three different times when he tried to get through was he impeded. Burns finally v took Farmer Bennett around and in the last sixteenth the colt passed the others like a streak. / Gold Badge ran his very best race and outgamed Odnor for second place. Winner— B. g. by Fresno -Rosette, Went to post at 4 :15. Off at the first break to a good start. W7on driving, and out to the limit. There was a busy iuartette behind the winner. Rollins found the track to his liking and id fairly ran away with little Willie Waldo. He is a peculiar gelding, and always runs best when WaldoMiandles him. His race was much better than it was the last time he started witli Narvaez ez up. Trimmer ran a good honest race and on him Miller rode his first good race at the meeting. g. He picked the best going and steered clear of all interference. Walkenshaw lost much ground id by making a wide stretch turn, but this was made up by the advantage gained in the going, and ld. the horse finished strongly. Vincennes can be marked to win in such company. He was short 5 and needed this race. The Elector was never dangerous. Neither was Ollie Dixon, who showed no more speed than a cow. Bishop Reed was prominent all the way. Scratched— 18054 Donation, 106; 18054 Rosavannah, 100. Rollins, place, 5 to 1 ; show. 24 to 1. Trimmer, place. 2 to 1; show, evens. Walkenshaw. w. show, evenB. He was well ridden and nd etood a hard drive from the head of the stretch home gamely. Teucer made a strong bid at the I,,. end, but could not quite get up. Galileo was hand ridden all the way and finished stoutly. The Lady in Blue ran a fast half and then retired. She is a flashy filly and is not much at herjjest SB Here from 1 Whatever chance Semper Eadem had was ruined on the turn entering into tha backstretch. Boland on Teucer shut the filly off, causing Silvers to pull up almost to a standstill to keep going down. ; Overweights— The Lady in Blue, 24 pounds. Annowan, place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens.
