OAKVOOD AFTKRMATH. Speaking of recent racing at Washington Park, Barney Schreiber said yesterday : "Bull-man rods for me at San Francisco last winter and I secured second call on his services in a regular way from Green Morris as soon as I could after he arrived here. That is i why he rode Fly By Night in the Oakwood I Handicap and also why he could not ride Sidney Lucas. He will ride for me in stakes in which Morris has no starter. There was no i occasion for blaming Messrs. Thompson for not putting him on Sidney Lucas. They could not do so and did the best they could under the circumstances. Any turf reporter could easily . have ascertained th facts by making inquiry of me if he cared enough to be accurate to • do so. "I bet 00 on Fly By Night for a friend who asked me to do so, but not a dollar for myself. His running had been disappointing to me and I I thought the big end of the stake would do , well enough for me, if he was able to land it, • something I strongly doubted his ability to do. . There has been some talk about what 1 won on , In Shot, big stories without any foundation in fact, i did bet 5 on her, no more, no less, . and if 1 hadnt won the Oakwood, i would not t have ventured a nickel on her chances.
