Winner — Ch. f. hy Daniel— Antelope. Went to post at - :30. Off at the first break to a good start. Won handily ; the next four were driving to the limit. Anthracite; with a lot of weight off from her last race, was cleverly ridden, and ran a liigli-class race. Kmgbt placed the filly with judgment throughout and brought her up with a rush in the last sixteenth. Potente may have been a trifle short. At least this is the only excuse that can be offered for his defeat. At the head of the stretch he seemed to be winning, but huug at the end. Greatlaud took the shortest route, was well handled, and ran his very best race. Limerick had bad hick, but was right there at the end. Silver Garter showed sonie speed, but three-quarters is as far as he wants to go. Arthur Behan got away in a tangle and did cot run his race. Overweights— Arthur Behan, 2 pounds; Silver Garter, 1. Went to post at 3:00. Off at the first break to a bad start. Won in a drive; second driving also. Silverdale got the best of the start, took the shortest route, had clear sailing and won a lucky race. lhe chances are that Schoolmaster would have beaten Silverdale with an equal break. He was in a tangle at the start and was much used in getting up. He ran a cracking good race. Battus ran a greatly improved race. He lost much ground by making a wide stretch turn and was pressing the two leaders at the end. Yolkmann and Prince of Delight were outclassed and beaten off. Scratched— 184C8 Miss Nobody, 105. Advance Guard is a grand colt and ran a grand race. Vititoe let him loaf in behind until the stretch was reached and then made his move. For an instant Advance Guard hung, but as soon as Vititoe struck him with the whip he responded gamely and at the end was going away. Sam Phillips was skilfully handled and had no excuse for his defeat other than Advance Guard is better than him. The Monk ran a much better race than he did when last out. Winner— B. h. by Leonatus— Queen Faro. Went to post at 4 :00. At post 17 minutes. Start good. Won easily ; second handily. The next three were driving hard. Pope Leo was the best, best ridden and is in fine form. Caywood saved him finely during the long delay at the post and succeeded in getting a running start. Rollins is a hard horse to ride and little Martin could hardly do him justice. This considered the gelding ran a smashing good race. He got away all tangled up aud was shut off numerous times, but when straightened away for home he closed ground rapidly and finished strongly. Shrove Tuesday was right there all the way and ran a good race. Ben Ledi had a rough journey and was generally poorly handled. The route was too short for Brisk, who is in winning form, Lomond was the cause of the delay at the post and is probably stale. Overweights— Delia Ostrand, 3 pounds. Pope Leo, place, evens; show, 1 to 2. Rollins, place, 8 to 1; show, 4 to 1. Shrove Tuesday, show, 3 to 2. Ben Ledi, place, 7 to 5; show, 3 to 5. The Sprite broke fully in her stride, had speed to spare and ran a bigb-class" race. Mathews wasted no time in looking to see what was behind him aud did his best on t hi filly to the end. Alcedo ran a high-class race under his 112 pounds. Star Chime was right there all the way aud although outrun at the end ran a good race. Lady Elite had no chauce !mm where she got away. Shortly after the start The Rush stumbled and this ruined whatever chance he had. Jake Webers race was good enough lor him to win when placed right. Tayon, under a smashing good ride, ran a high class rtce. Stuart was slow in getting away from the post, but took his time about going to the front and nursed Tayon along with good judgment during the early stages of the race. At the head of the stretch there was a general closing up and at the end when the pinch came Stuart and Tayon were right there. Livadia had a rough journey and was poorly handled, but ran a fine race. From the half mile ground home Vain closed a lot of ground. Hermoso and Minyon both hnng at the end. John A. Morris was roughly treated when going down the backstretch, being almost thrown over the fence. Avenstoke can do better. Scratched— 18943*Midwood. 106; 18914 Moroni, 115; 18912HVohicer, 104.
