Winner— Ch. f. by Masetto— Bankas Daughter. Went to post at 2:30. At post 7 minutes. Start fair. The first four were close together and driving to the limit. Barbara M. had clear sailing, got a good, strong ride and ran a good race for her. Fondo met with some interference at the start and also on the far turn. This considered, he rail as good, if not ■ better race, than did the winner. Bugaboo should have won. She was off poorly and interfered with often, but in the run through the stretch closed an enormous gap. Grace Cup was hemmed in on the rail all through the stretch. Both Woodstick and Icon quit when the pinch came. The latter -eemed to ha short and will improve from this race. Scratched -193723Battus. 115. Corrected weights— Woodstick. 103. Winner -Br. c, by Gallantry— Jetty. Went to post at 3 :00. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily; second handily. Third and fourth were driving hard. John A. Morris got away well in his stride, was well ridden and won in a high-class way. Whatever chance Mint Sauce had was ruined by a bad ride. Devin had him in and out and all over the race track, and had he tried he could not have ridden a worse race. He seemed to deliberately ride into a pocket on the far turn, and all the way-through he was more of a handicap than a help to the horse. Onomastus made a good showing, but tired at the end. Tayon came from behind with a rush in the stretch, and had it been a trifle farther would have been third. Scratched-19266 HermoBO, 119: 19215Sly 122: 19310 Sim W.. Winner— Ch. m. by Tristan— Pocahontas. Went to post at 1 :35. Off at the second break to an excellent start. Won handily ; second driving hard; third eased. Becky Rolfe was well handled, fenced without making a mistake, and at the end was going away. Passe Partout jumped well, showed a lot of speed, but appeared to be a trifle faint hearted. Globe 11. shouldered 160 pounds gamely. He is a good honest performer at the jumping game. Those behind Globe II. were easing up at the end. Lord Chesterfield was running under a stout pull and did not seem to be in the least distressed when he ran out of the course He is a bad horse and is liable to get almost anyone into trouble. Winner— Ch. c, by Midlothian— Miss Woodford. Went to post at 4:05. Off at the first break to a good start. The first three were driving to the limit. Midwood was at his best, was lucky, and barely lasted long enough to win. Silver Coin ran a good, game race and was rapidly overhauling Midwood at the end. He is a shifty selling plater. Goldone improved a lot since his last race at Washington Park. Wax showed ■iirne speed, but he was giving away too much weight to be a contender. Scales, from all indications, sulked. At any rate he ran a bad race. Rumor had it that he was a sick horse, but owner Dunne denied this rumor and was as much surprised as anyone else at the colt.- poor showing. Won cleverly : second, third and fourth were driving to the limit. Golden Age is a fine colt and was in a soft spot. He simply loafed all the way and could have won off by himself had Builman so chosen. Fancy Wood was right there all the way, but in the last sixteenth she hung, and barely lasted long enough to hold becond place. Jiminez ran a good race. Telephone Girl seemed to be running easily at the head of the stretch, but hung at the end. There was little or uo action to the race, as the Held was strong out all the way. Winner-Ch. m, by Masetto— Miss Rye. Went to post at 5:10. Off at the first break to a good start. Won in a long, hard drive of two; third easily. Eva Rice was best ridden and that accounts for her winning. Riders reversed, Orimar would have won. Winkfield rushed Orimar to the front early and ruined his chances by setting a fast, hot pace. The horse runs best from behind and had the jockey placed him in the early part of the race he could not have lost. Eva Rice is a good, honest mare. The field ran Indian file all the way.
