Icon is in his very best form now. He got away in front, showed the most speed but wa.- tiring at the end. His price wa. far out of line. Hurry ran a good game race, being under a drive through the last three furlongs. As the race was run Orudurman should have wou. He was slow in getting awaj from the post, made up ground throughout and finished gamely under a weak ride. Curd tiillock made a Btrong bid at the head of the stretch but died away at the end. Woodstick shot his bolt early. Dangerliue had but little speed and ran a had race in the light of his last performance. M -nance made a good showing. Winner— Ch. f. by Only Dare Mollie Jones. Went to post at 2:55. Off at the first break to a good start. Won driving and out to the last ounce; second and third also driving. Rival Dare broke fully in her stride, was lucky to get through when going down the backstretch. and won strictly on her own courage. Walsh seemed to become rattled at the head of the stretch and wobbled all over the filly. Josephine B. had no excuses. She was off well, had clear sailing, but at the head of the stretch she swerved badly under punishment. Prestar, with a stronger ride, would have probably been second. Ransom was of little or no help to him when the pinch came. Carl C. seemed stiff and sore going to the post, but ran a good race. Pay the Fiddler was interfered with at the start. Lucille Bramble did not run her race. Belle of Holmdel had bad racing luck throughout. Overweights— Josephine B.. 3 pounds : Pay the Fiddler, 1. Rival Dare, place. 34 to 1 : snow, evens. Winner— Br. g. by Little Minch— Gwendoline. Went to post at 3:25. At post 6 minutes. Start good. Won in a mild drive; second and third driving hard. Globe II. was well ridden, fenced finely, and appeared to be in his best form. He had to be hand riddtn a quarter of a mi out to stall off Once Mores rush, but at the end had something left. Once More did well, being prominent all the way and displayed gameness when the pinch came. Passe Partout show 1 the most speed. He fenced well, but tired badly, and was stag-ering in the stretch. Viking ran below expectations. Becky Rolfe will do be.ter with weight off. Zufallitr was prominent all the way. but he. like Passe Partout, tired at the end Durwad unseated Barton at the second jump, and went the entire route without a rider, taking every fence with eas«. Time. 125, 24.. 50. 1 :03,. Winner— Ch. f, by Russell— Memoria. Went to post at 4:06. At post 12 minutes. Start good. Won easily. Miss Bennett outclassed her company and was in a toft spot. She is a grand filly and in her present form is unbeatable in the west. She smothered her field for speed and at. the end had plenty in reserve. Fancy Wood came from behind gamely in the stretch but swerved badly when Southard struck her with the whip and sharply interfered with Bonnie Lissak. For this she was promptly disqualified. Bonnie Lissak was outrun in the first part of the race but closed stoutly in the stretch and ran a good, game race. Print-ess Tatyaua was much used in trying to catch Miss Bennett in the first part of the race and tired badly in the stretch. The same comment applie to Cora Goetz. Winner — Ch. g. by Fouso Mi-s Nannie. Went to post at 4:45. Off at the first hreak to a good start. YY"ou cleverly : second and third were drivin-r to the limit. Frangible improved since his last race and had little or no trouble in winning. Tildy Ann ran gamely, hut barely got up in time to beat Tame Irishman for second place. The latter has wurkt-d fast and showed -peed in thib race, but at that is not of much account Etta eloaad cou.-iderable ground in the stretch. Parmeuiou got into a bad jam on the first turn, and tlii- ruined whatever chance he might have had. Silver Coin, race was out of line. He showed but little speed and finished altogether too far back for the performance to be a true one. Louisville about ran her race. Overweights — Tame Irishman. 3 pounds. Start good for all but Tulla Fonso. who refused to break. Won easing up; second whipped out. Great Bend had speed to loan and made a runaway race of it. He likes to race in front, ami in this instance won most impressively. Hub Prather. although outclassed, made a creditable showing. Boney Boy showed little or no speed, and is far from being in his best form. Tulla Fonso was given numerous chances, but would not hreak. Her entry will be refused at Hawthorne in the future.
