Fondo was in a good position all the way ,11,1 came away finely under punishment at the end. Edith Q. ran a good race, finishing with a well-timed rush. Wooitstick hud no excuses and did his best. Eldred is a quick breaker and showed a lot of speed Omdurmau is a bad betting proposition. He is a slow beginner and had ! ■ lot of trouble, and under punishment .-werved badly in the stretch. Bugaboo had a rough journey and was shut off in the stretch just as she was making her run. Burnetts Walkaway ran a , good race. Overweights — Al Brown, 1 pound. Fondo, place, evens; show. 1 to 2. Winner— Br. g. by Van Buren— Etta Gilroy. Went to post at 2:4s. At post 12 minutes. Start poor. Won driving and out to the last ounce ; second, third, fourth and fifth were also driving hard. Van Hoorebeke was lucky to win. He got away well, had clear sailing, and barely lasted long enough to stall off Pirate J.s rush. The latter improved wonderfully since his last race, rarmenion. perhaps, should have won. He got away poorly and had to run all around his field, and at the end was running past ■ horses. Floridan broke fully in his stride and 6howed a sharp turn of speed. Tame Irishman was bumped and came within an ace of falling shortly after the start. Zaza ran her race at the j post. There was a general mixup shortly after the start and every horse was interfered with more or less. Scratched— 17817 Nullah. 100. Van Hoorebeke. place. 2 to 1 : show, evens. Fancy Wood is a filly of good class, was far the best of this field and had to be to win. Winkfield rode a miserable race on the filly. He got her rhut off sharplj on the far turn and came near being beaten on pounds the best filly. Rene, under a bad ride, ran a good race. She was ridden all over the track in the stretch. Barbara M. had bad luck early and finished stoutly. Ellis Glenn broke running and showed a *sharp turn of speed. Fridolin tired at the end. Ransom pulled Telephone Girl up at the start. Hard Knot was by far the best and hail to he to win Herting got into every pocket available and messed the colt about generally. Hard Knot never got clear and fully settled in his stride until the stretch was reached, then he finished with a tremendous rush. Dissolute, giving away weight to all the others, ran a smashing good race. Nobleman showed a lot of speed, but hung at the end. Star Chamber ran well as far as he went. Pink Coat is a high class stake horse and in excellent form at present. He perhaps can beat any horse in training at present in the west at a mile or over. Mint sauce had no excuses. He showed a dazzling turn of speed but could not stall off Pink Coats rush at the end, although he hung on gamely under pressure. Boney Boy seems to be rounding to. Neither Cambrian nor Livadia had any excuses. It was a fast race and equaled the track record. Overweights-Cambrian. 1 pound. Pink Coat, place. 2 to 5; show, out. Miss Liza got away Hying, took the shortest route and managed to ij0!?* enough to stagger home. Senator Thompson finished with a tremendous rush and would have won in another stride. Warrior ran a good race and finished gamely under punishment. The Devil is only a wreck of his former self. Dad Steele hung in the final sixteenth. Tim Gaiuey overraced himself Hub Prather interfered with Vincenues repeatedly in the stretch and was rightly disqualified. Waldo was of little or no help to Vincennes who was far the best and should have won off by himself. Judge Denny finished with a rush and is deserving of attention in long distance races from now on. San Veuado was sharply interfered with at the start and wae never in it. Overweights— Clara Meader. 3 pounds: Jim McCleevy. 1. Clara Meader. place, 8 to 1 ; show, 3 to 1.
