Vititoe used good judgment and is far the best rider. Statira was running easily through the first six furlongs, but weakened at the finish. Al Caskey was hard ridden down the backstretch— Silvers using the whip for quarter of a mile. Old Fox stopped badly in the stretch. Insurrection, place, 4 to 5 : show, 1 to 3. Bentley B. was under severe punishment throughout the last half mile. Jim Conway finished strong. Slasher, the "good thing." was never in it. Banished was pulled up at the finish. Fair Deceiver opened up a big gap early, but Harshberer came near throwing the race away by being over-confident and should have won further off. J. Martin was working hard on Expelled and came near beating the winner out. Greetings ran a good race. He was cut off turning into the stretch. Full Dress showed prominently in the first part of the race, but tired in the stretch. Refused acted badly at the post and is a mean kicker. Cliap-paqua was well placed to the stretch, where he came away and won as he pleased. Rideau and Acushla raced each other strongly for the first half and the latter quit, while Rideau hung on well. Foneda ran her race. Nettie Regent showed no speed in any part of the race. Foneda and M. Murphy acted badly at the post and delayed the start. Scratched— 19491 Urma S., 105.
