Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily; second and third were under pressure. Shut Up reveled in the going, had speed to loan and was never fully extended. Bengal has shown up to good advantage in his work and may be a good youngster, but was handicapped here by the mud. Oscar Tolle was sharply interfered with shortly after the start, and this considered, ran a fairly good race. It was a bad lot and badly sTung out all the way. Jack Doyle broke in front but would not run. Propeller labored in the going. Forkford was crowded into the fence on the far turn a ad fell. Winner— B. c, by Hanover— Orlie. Went to post at 2 :50. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easing up; second and third were doing their best. Hansford won like a good -horse. He was hard held all the way and went to the front when ready on the far turn. Owensboro was well handled, had no bad racing luck, and was right there all the way. Ben Chance never got to running at full speed until the stretch was reached then he did nothing sensational. Thomas Carey and Mitten stopped badly in the stretch. The Bobby was dull of speed and seems to be stale. The winner was entered for 00 but was run up jointly by J. E. Cushing and L. A. Legg, but was retained by the 6wner for ,405. Start good. Won easily; second and third botli eased up. Passe Partout had an easy thing of it after Last Past fell. The pair swung into the stretch on almost equal terms and both were driving hard. Eggerson, in his effort to save ground, made the turn too sharp and Last Past slipped from under him. Barring this accident Last Past would probably have won, as he is a gamer horse than Passe Partout, and had a pull iu the weights. Reno was driving and staggering at the last fence, but was eased at the end. Sir Dicks way of taking the jumps was amusing. He seemed to stop and hesitate and then would eventually crawl over. Lord Chesterfield is a bad horse. He did not show so much speed as usual and tried to bolt at the last fence Passe Partout slipped and almost fell at the MM time Last Past fell. Overweights— Last Past, 4 pounds. Passe Partout, place, 4 to 5 ; show, out. Reno, place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens. Sir Dick, show, 3 to 1. Lord Chesterfield, place, evens, show, 2 to 5. Hermoso is almost a stake horse in soft going and beat his field like cracking sticks. The Lady in Blue ran her best race. Knight saw he had no chance to win at the head of the stretch and eased the filly up. Crosby skinned the rail at the head of the stretch, saving much ground. Ibis accounts for him being third. Boney Boy seemed to labor all the way. Scratched— 193093 Headwater, 109; 19907 Abe Furst, 112; 19933Sim W., 109; 19933 L. T. Caton. 109; 19933 Rival Dare. 107. Hermoso. place, out. Winner— Br. c, by Kingston— Miss Dixie. Went to post at 4 :40. Off at the second break to a good start. Won driving to the limit ; second easing up; third and fourth were under keen pressure. Tyr was ridden to perfection, but won a lucky race. Silverdale was far the best and only Tallys carelessness cost him the race. The colt was never in trouble and at the head of the stretch was winning with the greatest of ease. Master Tally, however, tried to draw the finish fine, and in doing so entirely overlooked Tyr on the inside, who, under a strong ride, stole a march on the sleeping jockey and won by a long neck. There was a general mix-up on the far turn, caused by Silverdale, who was on the ontside and was pulled in on the other horses. Tyr, Sad Sam and Fancy Wood were all piled on the fence. This considerea, each of the trio ran a good race. For his carelessness in throwing . the race away on Silverdale Tally drew a fine of 00 and was lucky in not haing suspended for an indefinite period. Off at the first break to a good start. Won in a mild drive : second and third were under full sail. Star Chamber liked the going, was well handled and ran a fine race. He was put to a hard drive at the eighth post but stood this gamely and at the end was drawing away. Scarlet Lily ran well and showed gameness in the stretch. Nobleman made a strong bid in the run home but hung at the end. Malaise showed little or no speed and perhaps did not like the heavy track. . Star Chamber, place, 1 to 2; show. out.
