Won driving and out to the 9 last ounce; second and third the same. Peace broke fully in her stride, liked the going, was well 1 ridden. aDd barely lasted long enough to win. Stuart clearly ou~ finished Tally at the end. Boys ■ reversed Jim W would have won. Olekma had no excuses, getting away Hying and also having B i clear sailing throughout. Josephine B. was taken into the deep going at the start and she never ir had a chance after that. Josephine B. sharply interfered with Tulla Fonso on the first turn al-moBt jj causing the latter to fall. Braw Lad was never dangerous. Patroon looked high and was probably short. Went to post at 2 :50. At post 6 minutes. 8tart fair. Won driving and staggering; second, third and fourth were also hard at it. Onoto ran a good, game race. She struck a streak of f good going on the far turn and moved to the front in a half furlong. Chicopec came from a long way back in the stretch. He seemed quite lame in going to the post, and this considered, ran a | good, game race. Tyrba got away in a tangle and was much used in getting to the front. He ! seemed all over a winner at the bead of the stretch, but hung at the end. Moch made a strong r bid at the head of the stretch, but he also quit at the end. Delia Ostrand showed dazzling speed, but when she stopped she stopped all over. It was a very bad lot and they were strung out all the ; way. Scratched— 17974 Polly Pitcher. 9*. Won cleverly; second, third, fourth i and fifth driving. Peaches liked the going, was best ridden and after interfering with everything f near her won with something in reserve. Shut Up was probably the best. He had a rough journey, - and this cost him the race. He came fast from the eighth post home, but it was impossible I for him to catch Peaches. Glove showed more speed than usual, but could not stand the pressure at the end. Pirates Queen came from a long way back in the stretch and ran a good game race. Reina del Celia ran a miserable race, not showing speed worth mentioning. Corrected weights — Hampshire, 110. Peaches, place, 2 to 1; show. 4 to 5. Shut Up, place. 2 to 5; show, out. Off at the first break to a good start. Won whipped out: second and I third under keen pressure. The Unknown won simply because he was best ridden. Kuhn rated 1 him cleverly for the entire route, avoided all interferences and came with a rush in the stretch , on the outside. Dissolute suffered from poor handling. Bloss had him in and out and all over the track. This considered, the colt ran a good race. Owensboro skinned the rail on the far turn, was lucky in finding a streak of good going and gained much ground in a short time. Both Wax and Star Chamber quit under pressure at the end. Neither is fond of heavy going. Scratched— 199953The Lady, 112; 19598 Florizar. 112. The Unknown, place, 8 to 5 ; show. 1 to 2. Dissolute, place, 7 to 10; show, out. Owensboro, show. 4 to 5. Irish Jewel had all the luck of the race and had to have it to win. She headed for home * with a comfortable lead, but was stopping badly at the end and barely lasted long enough to stall off Oxnards rush. The latter ran a smashing good race and has a fondness for heavy going. . Barney F. displayed more speed than he has shown in any of his recent races and hung on longer r than usual at the end. J. J. T. was pocketed and interfered with on the far turn. The first three always had the race between them. Scratched--19774 Locust Blossom. 10r . I rish Jewel, place, evens ; show, 1 to 2. He is a rank quitter though rh " _ 9 1 ■ B i and n this race barely managed to last long enough to win. John Baker came with a rush at the end and had Bloss been able to have kept him straight he could not have lost. Etta had no excuses and ran right to the mark. Nobleman pinned his ears when going down the backstretch and seemed to sulk. Tootsie Green showed a flash of early speed. Hermoso, place. 2 to 5; show, out. John Baker, place, 7 to 10; show, out.
