Winner — Ch. f. by Ben Strome— Ban Amy. Went to post at 1 :35. At post 4 minutes. Start bad. Won driving; second handily. The Jade ran a much better race than in her last two races when ridden by Burns and Murphy. Williams rode a splendid race for a rider who has been out of the saddle for over a year. But The Jades victory was a Huke. Scotch Bush had the most speed and was apparently winning pasily but Spencer drew it too close and was beaten. Spencer said afterward that he thought he had won by a good head; he could have won by several lengths. Philma Paxton got off well bat WM pinched off and fell back then gradually made up the lost ground and finished strongly. Kings Favorite made up a lot of ground in the stretch. Annu showed early speed but tired badly at the end. Amarita acted badly at the post. Luck made up 9 lot of ground and with an even break would have been in the first three. Off eighth, he went up to the leaders and went to the front at the last sixteenth and was drawing away at the end. High Jinks showed early speed but faltered near the finish. Turney ran better than was expected and was with the leaders all the way to the last furlong. Charawind ran a fair race. Queen Louise, off seventh, went right to the front but could not last. Reports had it that Rinaldo II. ran away two miles while being led to the track. He did not show his usual speed in the race and Clawson was called into the stand. Will Wallace, owner of High Jinks, bid Specific up from 00 to ,000. He was protected by his owner. Won handily ; second the same. Gonfalon showed wonderful improvement. He could not raise a respectable gallop the last time out, but today he outran his field all the way, although he was doing his best all the way through the stretch. Favonius ran well and appeared dangerous in the last furlong, but lost ground by swerving. David Garrick was under a pull and running kindly to the stretch. He seemed likely to be the winner when Maher made his effort, but David Garrick then sulked. Compensation was ridden in bungling fashion by Clawson. He is best, however, over a heavier track. Knight of the Garter does not like to be hustled the way Boland rode him and did not run kindly. Went to post at 3:11. At post 3 minutes. Start bad. Won handily; second driving. The start was so bad that only the first seven away had a chance. Hylo was away with the leaders and went right to the front, but was doing his best all through the stretch. Boomerack ran a better race and might have won with an even break. Tu~karosa beat the flag several lengths. Quiz ran a good race aud was slightly interfered with at the last sixteenth. Cherished, off eighth, gradually worked his way through the bunch as did Edgefield, off ninth. Goddess of Night was running easily in the last furlong when it appeared a6 if she struck herself. She pulled up very lame. Scratched— 19953-Farmer Bennett. 113: 20005 Snark, 101; 20124 Annu. 101 ; 19953 Miss Daniels. M, Hylo, place, 4 to 5; show. 2 to 5. Boomerack. place, 6 to 1 ; show, 3 to 1. W inner— Ch. g. by King Ernest— Trill. Went to post at 3 :44. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won easily ; second the same. Trillion looked as if he had filled up some since his last start, but ran with his usual speed and jumped well. He showed the most speed all the way. Wood Pigeon might have won but for falling lame. He moved up to within a length of the leader after the last jump, then faltered. The Bachelor has weak ankles, which seemed to hurt bim every time he lauded after a jump, as he would lose several lengths. He ran a good race. Cousin Jess was running easily when the accident happened and seemed to be Trillions most dangerous opponent. George Keene threw his rider, who remounted him aud finished.
