She wax sharply interfered with on the far turn, being cut off and almost thrown by Lady Idris. After tin* sharp in terference it did not seem that Fancy Wood had a chance, but she came on game and true under punishment in the stretch and got up in the very last stride Lady Idris was tired enough to lie down at the end. Regea ran a good race under poor handling. With a good strong rider up she could have won from the head of the stretch home, Peaches got into a jam on the far turn. Edith Q had no excuses and stopped as if 9hort. Cora Qoetz showed a phenomenal turu of speed down the backstretch, but tired and quit at the end. Winner— Br. c, by Florist— Highland Mare II. Went to post at 3 :00. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly; second driving to the limit. Third and fourth were hard at it. Highland Lad was the beet and although the track was not exactly to his liking he managed to run over it to good advantage. He is a high class colt and with a strong boy up and over a fast track will be hard to beat from now on. Algareta broke fully in her stride , showed plenty of speed, but hung at the end. L. T. Caton had no mischances. Vohicer finished stoutly. Silver Fizz was high in flesh and was hardly ready. This race should be a benefit to her. The others do not amount to much and were simply "fillers in." Overweights— Lamity, 4 pounds. Highland Lad, place. 3 to 2; show, 3 to 5. Algareta, place, 7 to 10; show, 2 to 5. L. T. Off at the second break to a good start. Won hand ridden and all out. The next three were driving. Frond was fit and ready, jumped to perfection, showed the most speed and never gave her backers one uneasy moment. Passe Partout under his heavy impost ran a smashing good race and is an exceedingly good one at. jumping. Coronatus and Brakeman had a battle royal for third place. Sir Dick turned a complete somersault over Johnson, but the hoy escaped uninjured. It appeared that Uncle Jim was thrown at the second jump, as there was ijuite a bit of crowding at that point. Off at the first break to a perfect start. Won easily ; second and third the same. Our Nellie was the best and best ridden. Win-fields ride on the filly is deserving of praise. He used excellent judgment throughout, picked the best going and was always a help to the filly. Ad metus showed plenty of speed and seemed to be winning at one time on the far turn, but when the pinch came in the stretch lie had nothing left to respond with. Stuttgart was 1 short on early speed, hut got the third place simply because Thomas Carey could not go the route. The latter used what speed he had early and quit badly. Winner— Br. c, by Gallantry —Jetty. Went to post at 4:25. Off at the first break to a perfect start. Won handily ; it was a terrific driv» between the next two. John A. Morris is a speed marvel and after stepping a fast half, . had the others beaten. He is a sprinter of high degree and borders on stake class. The Lady f ran her usual good honest race. She is as game as a pebhleand outlasted Headwater at the end. . The latter had no excuses other than that he must have a hard pasteboard track to show at his s best. The Lady in Blue showed speed and ran a good race. The Elector was high and will improve - from this race. Rival Dare was outclassed and finished where she belonged. Winner B. f, by Russell Fresco. Went to pott at 4:55. At post 8 minutes. Start good. Won driving and staggering; the next t five were under keen pressure. Free Hand showed the most speed and was the best of a bad lot. She opened up a winning gap early, but only lasted long enough to win. Nan O Kee would probably have won but she experienced a lot of bad luck early and had to be much used to get up while going down the backstretch and this naturally told on her. Dandy H. had no excuses and ran his race. The field behind the first three was badly strung out all the way. Maharajah was much used at the post. Chisel ran a fairly good race. Won in a drive; second and third were doing their best Prince Blazes was a hot horse and on his way to the post was dripping with perspiration. The gelding was in fine form and after being in a good position all the way went to the front finely in the stretch. Great Bend had miserable racing luck and was perhaps the best. Dupee tried several times to go through on the backstretch but at each attempt, he got shut off. Patroon was right there and ran his usual honest race. Dagmar showed a lot of speed.
