Zinziber -was much the best, outgamed and outraced the others at all stages and was never fully extended, He wan a very cleverly managed horse and his running today confirms an existing opinion as to the suspicious riding of Veitch in his previous efforts. Fulminate, after trailing the field for two miles, finished fast. Orman tired after setting a stiff pace, but is a clever jumper and ran a game race. The Bachelor ran dully today and was under pressure from the start. He fenced poorly, in addition to being afflicted with the slows. Scratched 28156 Decameron, 135 ; 27987 Fabius, 130. Mmsette has been improving steadily of late and was much the speediest of this field, when challenged at the stretch turn she drew away gamely, likes cold weather and should continue a winking career. Cerveras showing today confirms his improved running in his last race. He was the only Berious contender. Redpath, outrun in the first half, finished with a rush and was going strongest of all at the end. Duelist made up a lot of ground. Isias race was much better than his previous one in Spenoars hands. King Pepper quit in the stretch and has developed into the worst kind of a sulker. Somerset showed plenty of speed, but was outclassed. Sly per--fomed poorly. Endurance by Right galloped away with the rich stake with the same supreme ease that she has lately annexed ordinary purse races. Sombrero comesback an improved colt after Mb recent enforced retirement on account of sickness, showed brilliant speed and ran like a stayer. Otis ran well and is gradually showing improvement. Feme Sole was prominent throughout. Peninsula, off badly, and shut off and knocked about in the first half, finished strong as ueual and is evidently a very UEoful colt over a distance of ground. Par Excellence and Lombre are both worth remembering. Saturday is of no account except in soft going. Major Daingerflelds race was too bad to be true and is due to the big field and much interforonco. Maid of Harlem, which has always shown a dislike for big weight, trailed for the first two miles and -when called on ran past Hammock as if he was anchored and coming on challenged Rockton in the stretch, drawing away in the most unexpected manner. Rockton, which had been galloping in front for one and a half miles under a stiff pull and apparently a certain winner, commenced to shorten his stride so perceptibly that it was generally believed that he broke down, which was the case. He could hardly finish out the last furlong. Hammock ran very well for a mile and three quarters. Scratched 27275 Brigadier, 127 ; 28203 Bellario, 116. OQOOiQ FIFTH RACE last O 1-3 Furlongs. Sister Juliets early speed enabled her to secure clear sailing and, well handled, she was just abe to last it out. City Bank unexpectedly showed amazing speed and gave a glimpse of his supposed true spring form and with a competent jockey would have won. Eddie Busch finished strongly after having met with iaterference. Lady Sterling had no possible chance to recover from the mishaps which befell her early in the raco, bnt finished like a whirlwind. Ascension failed to etick in the last quarter and is evidently a much better filly on the regular track. Lady Radnor . was poorly handled. Fonsoluca finished fast. Dolando, perfectly handled, ran a flne race and runs in and out as if a "dope" horse. Kinnikinnick, crowded and carried wide on the first turn, finished very strongly and was probably best. Wild Pirate waB knocked out of the race on the first turn but closed a big gap. Barbara Frietchies chances were practically destroyed on the 1 first turn by crowding. The same applies to Demurrer and Bowen. Bedeck tired from chasing the winner. oo 8,C9ro?hedr?09Gold2n Grain 102 5 282273 Alfred Vargrave, 101 ; 275973Trebor,8 ; 282553 Astor, y; Z8Zo3Lady Chorister, 94. showh3to5 aZn BhW 6 5" Dolando show 2i to lf Kinnikinnick, show, 4 to 5.
