Goldsmith met with enough interference in the race to discourage any but a great colt, but he finished like a whirlwind, igniter ran like a good one, probably due to the soft track, showed brilliant spaod and gamenees and appoared a certain winner in the stretch but was nailod right on the post. Rockwaters race stamps her above the ordinary. OtiB closed a big gap on the rail in deep going. MaBterman was badly bumped in the stretch, but ran poorly on a track supposed to be to hia liking. King Hanover got a very bad start and improved his position throughout. Port Royal was bearing out all around both turns. Blue Girl was outrun and outstayed, confirming the opinion as to her loss of form. Golden Cottage showed a grand burst of speed. Emshee will do better on a fast track. Advance Guard was benefited by the tremendous pace set and came with a brilliant burst of speed in the stretch. He was very lucky to beat Bluee, which was ridden with deplorable judgment. The track especially favored him and he showed grand speed in running such ah extremely fast horse as Ten Candles into exhaustion in the first half, in doing which a tremendous lot of steam CONTINUED ON PWXH PAGE, BROOKLYN FORM CHART-CONTINUED. mast have boon taken out him. Terminus pnt up the beet race he was capable of in Bnllmana vigorous hands. Ten Candles was raced to defeat in the firBt half by Bines and the going may have handicapped him in addition.
