FEDERALS EASY RACE, The track, at Worth yesterday had dried out fairly well by the time the races were called and horses that perform best on a fast track finally got a chance to show their mettle. The day was sunshiny and the air crisp enough for winter wrappings. The best crowd of the week by far was present probably being attracted by the good card that Secretary Hiller had gotten together. The fixture event was the Oaklawn Handicap for three-year-olds and upward at seven and a half furlongs, with 00 added. Of the seven carded to start Vulcain was the only one to dodge the iBsue. The Hil-dreth entry, Federal and Gonfalon, was always held a prime favorite, being backed down from 8 to 5 to even money. At flag drop Federal, closely attended by W. J. Deboe, showed the way clear up to the final eighth, when the former drew away, winning rather easily by two lengths. W. J. Deboe was easily the best of the others, beating Haviland four lengths for second place. Haviland had enough when entering the stretch and was well spent by the time the wire had been reached. Gonfalon showed speed for five furlongs. Resedas race was not up to her best form. She ran well for a half mile and then kept gradually dropping away. Money Musb showed that he is about the best sprinter in the weBt at present by taking the fifth race, a dash of five furlongs, in a handy fashion from the speedy Burnie Bunton. The two ran head and head for a quarter of a mile where Money Muss took the lead and held it to the end winning handily by one length from Burnie Bunton, she beating If You Dare a .length and a half for second place. The Pride was all entangled at the start and never got into hiB stride until hopelessly beaten. .Lady Idris showed quite a turn of spoed for a half mile. McChesney, despite hiB impost of 113 pounds, beat his field without much trouble in the third race, a scramble of seven furlongs for two-year-olds. First, Bragg, and then Miracle IL led on sufferance, the latter having an advantage of about a half length when turning for home, but along near the last eighth post Winkfield called on McChesney and the colt camo away with a bound, winning by two lengths from Lucien Appleby, he beating Miracle II. the same distance for second place. Lucien Appleby Bhowed that he cannot run in the mud by running back to his fast track form, as in his last two startB in the mud he finished far back each time. Alad- St. Hera had little trouble in beating a big field of two-year-olds in the days opener, a dash of five furlongs. Step Onward showed in front to the stretch turn where Mabel Winn assumed command, holding it to the laBt eighth, where St. Hera came with a ruah and beat her out easily by two lengths. Mabel Winn finished a half length in front of Step Onward, which tired rapidly in the last eighth. Aegin fell at the first quarter while lying in a good position. Barilla, long overdue, took the one and one-quarter mile race handily by two lengths from Little Elkin, he finishing a length in front of Bl Caney for second place. Hanan and Whisper Low both showed speed, the latter holding it for over a mile. Baird played with a poor lot in the last race, a mile and seventy yards dash, taking the lead at flag drop and holding it to the end. He won in a canter by five lengths. Enightbanneret fin-iBhed second fonr in front of Hanswurst. Outside of the winner it was a poor field.
