He finished strongly through the last eighth and out-gamed Lord Roberts in the closing strides. The latter waB all tangled at the start, but made up ground rapidly while going down the backstretch. With any kind of racing luck he would have won. Otis rode a poor race on Chorus Boy. He had him in a sood position when going down the backBtretch, and thon for some reason let the horse fall dear out of it. Turning for home Chorus Boy closed up fast and was running past horses at the end. Monos could never get up and quit badly in the last eighth. Do Madge showed speed for six furlongs, as did C. B. The Pride, off none too well, moved up fast after the first quarter had been run and the result was never afterward in aoubt. Sea Queen showed a clever turn of speed throughout and was much the best of the others. She is a fast mare and deserves consideration from now on in any kind of company. Vulcain came fast in the last eighth and is on edge. Pigeon Post, off flying, showed well for five furlongs and then tired rapidiy. Ben Battle waB outclassed. Andes showed speed but quit badly when the pinch came. W. B. Gates had enough when a quarter out. Edith Q. showed much speed and bears watching from now on. Omdurman came like a shot in the last sixteenth and catching Coburn napping on Searcher nipped him on the post. Coburn became careleBB on Searcher in the last sixteenth and took matters too eaBily. His mount should have won. Joe Collins showed wall for a mile and then tired rapidly. Janowood showed improvement and will bear watchirg. Bhe was right there until a furlong out. Adelante threw his jockey on the far turn. He appeared to be well beaten at the time. Overweights Elmer L., 3 pounds. Omdurman, show, 2 to 5. Joe Collins, show, 6 to 1.
