1 NOTES OF THE TUBF. Frank Nelson and Ed Cole, whose horses, Miss Shanley, Tyrba.Bosebud, Maggie W. and Prince of Song, were badly injured in a wreck on the Pierre and Marquette Bailroad while en route from Ft. Erie to the South, have arranged a settlement, getting ,000. At first the company offered them only 51C0 for each horse. Nelson valned Maggie W. alone at ,500. Tom Ecott and John Grater, who also suffered in the accident, have not yet come to terms with the railroad. Doctor F. W. Holtgrewe, the well known North St. Louis turfman, has turned his Club Members winner, Hottentot out of training for this season. The crack son of St. Charles went lame in the shoulder last summer and haB bean on the shelf ever since. Hib owner did have hopeB of getting a race or two out of him before the season closed, but he finally concluded not to hurry the horse. The yearling chestnut colt by St. Florian, out of Eva B. tho dam of Uledi, died at Latonia Saturday night as the result of a sudden attack of congestion of tho lungs. He was the property of Hiram Pierce, who but a few days ago refused an offer of ,200 for him. The colt was taken ill at 10 oclock in the morning and died Bt 7 oclock.
