Winner Ch. c, by Iroquois Taffeta. Went to poet at 2:15. At post 7 minutes. Start bad. Won driving; second the same. Doctor Biddle was best and received a lucky start and strong ride. Royal Sterling showed fine speed which he need too early and the winner wore him down at the end. The Rogue ran well and iB in fine form. Big Gun closed a tremendous gap and is a rank in and outer. Brandy Bmnsh was prominent to the last sixteenth. Lucent, off badly and interfered with, made up a lot of ground. Pleasant Sail ran away three-quarters while at the post. . Althea beat the gate, but tbb outrun for the first half, then closed a big gap and outgamed the badly ridden and much the best horse in Mercer. The latter showed particularly well, as he got away badly and had to make up much ground to take the lead. Bafaello finds the track too hard, but finished well. A muddy track will improve this horses form a hundred per cent. Prince Richard was poorly ridden and mado too much nee of in the first six furlongs. He can do much better. He appeared to be beaten when a sixteenth out but finished gamely under punishment. Flora Pomona ran in startlingly improved form. Bijou ran well end may improve into a good one. Glen Water made up ground in the stretch. G. Whittier was prominent in the last furlong and appeared to have a chance. Lombre was out of place. Ha wants a longer route always. Nothing ever got near him and he set a tremendously fast pace. St. Finnan ran a fine race and is a better clasB horse than is supposed. Light weight favors him greatly and his form is extra good at todays weight. Potente got away badly and closed a big gap on the leaders. Redpath, off badly and messed about, sulked for a time, but was going very fast at the end. Kilogram ran a game race in view of the faBt pace that prevailed. Sister Juliet was shut off soon after the start, but finished with a tremendous rush. So did Bon Mot, which had a poor start and was pinned in next to the rail in the first quarter. Namtor appeared a certain winner in the stretch, but tired right at the end. He is a heavy-headed colt and Mounce turned his head loose in a whipping finish. Ben Howard ran a remarkable race from where he got away. Early Eve displayed amazing speed in taking th lead from a flatfooted start. Northern Star wao knocked about a great deal in tha stretch.
