Mamselle secured a lucky start and was reserved to the stretch, where she came on with great speed and made ood in game fashion. Kentucky Rose stuck to her work gamely throughout and outstayed Gravina at the end. The latter ran well and is steadily improving. Michaelmas was probably short but went well, displaying plenty of speed. Jerry was under the whip almost from the start to keep his position and failed at the end. Fatalist was waited with for the first six furlongs, then moved up fast on the far turn and challenged Kalif in the stretch, after which the result was a foregone conclusion. She is in rare form and can beat good ones over a distance of ground. Kalif was at a disadvantage in making the running and was unprepared for the winners strong bid at the end, but kept coming strongly and was easily the best of the others. Lone Fisherman ran well and is a genuinely improved horse. Mosketo ran as if his hard race of the previous day had hurt him. Courtenay was excessively used, quit on the far turn, then came again and but for interference would have been third. Overweights Courtenay, 2 pounds ; Alsike, 2. Fatalist, show. 2 to 5.
