Winner Br. c, by Kinglike Vanadis trained by J. T. Mayberry. Went to post at 2:30. Off at the first break. Start all strung out. Won driving; second easily. Farmer Jim ran Lampoon into submission in the first half and appeared an easy winner when a sixteenth out, but had to be driven ont to the last ounce to beat Gold Bell, which finished strongly and would have won in another stride. Flocarline could not extend herself in her best form in the soft going. Emir got off poorly and ran far below expectations. Lampoon was taken care of by Farmer Jim. Olonetz showed a flash of early speed and probably does not like the soft going. The winner, entered for ,500, was run up to ,200 and bought by A. Simons. Of! at the first break to a good start. Won easily; second the same. Arian showed the most speed and was never in danger of being headed. He stumbled in the closing strides, but was so much the best it mattered little. Boaster made a bold bid in the last eighth, but hung in the closing strides. Foundling closed up ground in the last eighth and would have been close up at the finish had he not been cut off opposite the eighth post. Caliban appeared unable to do his best in the going. Scortic showed sudden improvement. Matin Bell ran well for six furlongs. Ravensbury ran a dull race. Scratched 32434 Senora Maria, 102; 336263 Jaubert, 107. Overweights Scortic, 1 pound. FavoniuB ran to his best form, but had to be driven out to the limit to win, as Wyeth was wearing him down fast at the end. Lyne, on Wyeth, appeared to notice only Nitrate for the first six furlongs. When he called on Wyeth the latter was too far back to have a winning chance. Omdurman hung on the colt and seemed to impede him around the bend from the half. Glen Water ran a much improved race and will bear watching from now on. Omdurman ran well for six and a half furlongs. Nitrate could not extend himself in the going in anywhere near his best form. She stood the stiff pace set by Nickey D. with ease and came away handily just after turning for home. Nickey D. revived suddenly and showed much speed, but was so tired at the end that he was swerving badly. Waswift closed up much ground in the last quarter and finishod stoutly. Elsie L. was right there for five furlongs. Headwater appeared anchored with the weight and snowed no speed. Escalante had early speed. Von Rouse was not called on until entering the last eighth, whero he came up with a rush and won as his rider pleased. Silver Fringe displayed a keen turn of speed, but was tiring fast at the end and would have lost second place in a few more strides. Linguist showed sudden improvement.
