Navarino ran a Buprisingly good race and was lucky to clear the tangled field where the presumed contenders were cut off. He is a much improved horse. Lunar was pulled up at the start by Dale, but she made up a lot of ground in the last three-eighths and showed a great burst of speed, but tired in the closing strides Varro came around his field in the stretch with a great burst of speed and was going very fast at the end. He was probably best. Fonrleaf C. did her best. Federalist showed speed, but quit under pressure. Leenja ran as if short. The Phoenician ran a good race, but Scully could not help him. Amigari raced well to the six furlongs and tired. Henry Burt was cut off at the start. Overweights Leenja, 3 pounds. Navarino, show, 2 to 1. Lunar, show, 2 to 5.
