Charawind forced the pace throughout and ran in improved form. McGrathiana Prince fenced badly, as usual,. and tired in the stretch. Semper Ira has undoubtedly been much overrated and ran poorly. R. Condon broke flatfooted, was pocketed and interfered with in the first half, but finished strongly with clear sailing in the stretch. Mount Hope, lucky and skillfully handled throughout, was worn down by the winner in the last hundred yards. Amorous displayed an improved order of speed and held on well in the final drive. John A. Scott, badly messed about on the turn and given a weak finish, was a willing horse at the end. Niaxus got away badly and closed up much ground and the effort tired him in the last furlong. Ringdove, a slow breaker, was repeatedly forced out of his position in the first half, but was closing up Btrongly and wants a longer route. Winner B. h, br Candlemas Nell Swift trained by G. B. Morris. Went to post at 3:25. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won in a canter ; second easily. Swiftmas outclassed the field, was rated in front under a pull and when called on in the stretch came away without urging. Leonid still gave evidence of soreness and ran a remarkably good raco on the hard track. He will beat stake horses in soft or muddy going. Plohn ran the best race of his career and came with a rush rigbt at the end. Bellario made a strong bid on the stretch turn, but tired in the last sixteenth. He was evidently short and is high class, but best always in soft going. Himself, strictly a mudlark, tired badly after following the winners pace closely for six furlongs. Operator was far from keyed up for such a long journey. Black Dick was outclassed. Scratched 33578 The Amazon. ICO; 336S02Potente, 94; 33506 Numeral, 84. Overweights Leonid, 1 pound ; Plohn. 1. Won driving; second easily. Early Eve displayed amazing and unexpected speed and stamina. She was, however, being worn down at the end by The Regent. The latter was injudiciously trailed with and too far out of it in th first half, bnt cloted a tremendous gap in the last three furlongs and was compelled to make a wide stretch turn; which beat him, and he just failed to get up. Numeral, badly ridden and off last, made up ten lengths on the winner. Alack also closed an immense gap in the last half. Waterton was going well at the end. Ilium went a last Beven furlongs and held on well in the final stretch drive. Golden Cottage and Bonus both showed a good order of speed. Scratched 33531 Fair Kninrht, 101 ; 338022Leonid, 99. Stamping Ground forced the pace, which was very fast from the start and was tiring at the end, but was easily best and showed gameness in stalling off Miladi Loves determined bid at the end. The latter had been carefully reserved in the first half, then came fast. Pearl Diver was forced out of her position on the backstretch and went around the field on the turn and was closing up very strongly. Epidemic broke slowly and ran a fast middle half. Witfull closed a big gap and finished strongly. Futurita quit after following the winners terrific pace for three furlongs. Stamping Ground, show, 2 to 5. Miladi Love, show, 3 to 5.
