Blueblaze, cut off at the start and badly outrun early, closed up fast in the last half and just got up in time to catch Sam Lazarus Esq. napping. The latter was a wild horse today and was winning easily when Scully eased him up. Flop was probably best, but the small boy on him could not hold his head up and he floundered in the going. John Morton was anchored in the heavy going next to the rail. Birdie Stone is much improved and will win in this going presently. . . , Blueblaze, show, 2 to 1. Sam Lazarus Esq., show, 2 to 1. Brown Vail was lucky and ran a good race, as also did Balloon. Florr e S. ran in improved form. Varner wants a dry track to do his best. Miss Golightly broke smartly, was well rated when Santa Ventura was setting a dizzy pace, came on fast in the stretch and just lasted long enough. Singleton gave Schwalbe a very weak ride, allowed her to loaf in the early part of the race and she was weakly handled in the stretch and would have won in another stride. Father Wentker ran an excellent race. Helen Print closed up ground very fast in the stretch. Santa Ventura showed speed, but could not carry it far enough. Scratched 328563Peaceful, 110.
