NOTES OF THE TURF. The stallion Bel Demonio, by Uucas Bella Donna, has been purchased by J. B. Ewing from D. Higgins of Montreal, Canada, and will become one of the sires at Willamette Stud. He is finely bred and a half brother to Don dOro. Thirty-four bookmakers had their slates up in the big ring. In addition, to these there were three field books and one combination book which catered to the wants of those who were speculatively inclined. W. H. Laudemans crack four-year-old, Hernando, arrived in Lexington from New York last week. He fell lame while being prepared for the Suburban and will bo in retirement for some time.
