Pericles, well ridden, avoided the early hot pace set by Jackfull and then moved up fast when turning for home and finished strongly. Courage found the distance a shade too long and was tiring palpably at the end. Egg Nogg showed a flash of early speed, then fell back, but came again and finished determinedly through the last eighth. Jackfull showed much speed, but does not care to go over four and one-half furlongs with his own kind. He ran his race. Flash of Lightning ran well for a half mile. Memnon was given a weak ride when the last eighth struggle came up and was badly pinched in against the inside rail, getting through too late to be of any advantage in the closing strides. Aratoma finished strongly. Old Mike was well spent in the last eighth and began to swerve in and out in the closing strides. The Rabbit showed much speed but tired badly when a furlong out. Moderator ran poorly and wants a heavy track to show at his best. "Scratched 32328 Navillus, 96: 338513Declaimer, 103; 33727 Preetorius, 93; 3370Q3Theory, 109; 33302 Dark Secret, 96.
