Sovereign broke fast and led practically unextended except for being mildly handridden in the last sixteenth. He runs and looks as if he outclassed and can beat good ones. Mount Kisco was favored by the going and finished fast after overcoming interference when a furlong out. Monte Carlo lacked his usual early speed, was bearing out at the stretch turn and quit at the end. Damon went remarkably well through? out. Gold Van is a rater and out of place except over a longer distance, but came out of close quarters with a rush at the end. Roxboro was right there. Virgin Soil, a reputed good one, was prominent and held on well. Scratched f 34065 Rosetint, 114; 84017 Barkelmore, 105. Sovereign, show, 3 to 5. Mount Kisco, show, 21 to 1. Lucent, on which Wonderly rode a confident race, easily took the lead in the stretch and was best. Khitai was crowded ou the first turn, but made up much ground and finished fast. Atheola sustained her superior speed gamely and should improve. Justice was nearly left and closed a big gap. He finished very strongly, was second best. Great American ran in improved form. Gold Braid was evidently short. Rossignol may make good over a distance of ground and runs kindly with a slow early pace. Scratched-34041 Dr. Clark, 108. Lucent, show, 1 to 3. Khitai, show, 4 to 1. Hurstbourne followed the remarkably improved Blue Ribbon closely and wore him down at the end after a terrific drive through the entire length of the stretch. The brother to Blues gave a glimpse of high class form and was evidently favored by the soft going. Woodlake held on well in the cuppy going. Tantalus Cup broke slowly, closed a big gap and finished fast and runs like a pronounced stayer. Artvis was unable to concede the woight, but ran a good half. Prediction finished well. Hyphen showed the way throughout practically unextended, never was urged even in the stretch and held Major Daingerfield safe at all stages. Won easily; second the same. Songster found the soft going to his liking and his very bad underpinning stood the strain unexpectedly well. He came away in the last quarter easily. Demurrer tired in the stretch under the excessive weight, but ran as if in good form. St. Finnan ran dull and was put to his utmost to save third place from Meis-torsinger. The latter finished strongly. Choate went well. Morokanta is evidently in bad form.
