Bar Lie Due was crowded on the rails early, made up much ground on the far turn and finished gamely, but just failed to get up. Bessie McCarthy, handicapped by the going, failed to stay, but displayed fine speed and is very good and will baat good ones on a fast track. Trump got away badly and is a non-stayer. Olefiant ran well in hand for the first half, but failed to stay. Toscan quit after racing a fast half with the winner. Winner B. h, by Albert Bonnie Ola trained by W. C. Rollins. Went to post at 3:45. At post 5 minutes. Start bad. Won easily ; second the same. Herbert outclassed the field in the going. He broke slowly and was crossed on the first turn, but with an amazing burst of speed he took the lead in the first quarter, then sulked in the stretch and was sent along sharply to beat Keynote. The latter had trailed and closed a big gap in the last half and loomed up dangerously when a furlong out, after which Herbert drew away strongly. Whiskey King cut up badly at tne post, ran a flse break of a quarter, and failed to stay after forcing the pace for the first half, but is steadily improving. Articulate was overweighted, tired in the last quarter and was under pressure throughout. Francesco was nearly left and unable to stride freely in the going. Carbunolo, particularly favored by the difficult track, under a powerful ride ran a good race and outstayed Hunt- ressa. The latter ran a remarkably game race after ill judged and excessive early use. Arsenal trailed the leaders under a pull for six furlongs, but failed to stay at the end and was evidently short, but is in good form again. Zoroaster was crowded on the backstretch and fell out of contention, but could hardly have made good without the interference. Himself forced the pace for six furlongs and then quit.
