Meggs showed much the most speed, came away when his rider was ready and was only cantering at the end. Vouch had a rough journey and was messed about considerably, but finished strongly when clear. Senator Beveridge showed remarkable improvement. Ho and Pay the Fiddler made up much ground and finished stoutly. Pay the Fiddler came from away back in the run home. Kinloch Park tired in the final eighth. Baronet ran in improved form. Concertina was crowded all the way and could not get through. Immortelle appeared to be hopelessly out of it on the far turn, but went around her field at the turn into the homestretch and, finishing on the outside, closed a big gap and came with a rush at the end. Our Sallie was repeatedly bumped by Filly Deck in the last sixteenth and the interference cost her the race. Filly Deck was disqualified and Mexicana was placed third. ONeil rated Crimean along for the first half and he closed up strongly when called on in the run home and caught the leaders without much effort. Nobleman raced Velma Clark into subjection, but the effort told on him at the finish and he tired when it came to a drive. Velma Clark showed the most early speed, but could not last. Kelly broueht him up on the inside in the stretch after allowing Baffled and Sortie to set the pace, and outrode McDonald when it came to a drive. Scortic would have won with a stronger rider, but McDonald was of no assistance when the pinch came. Baffled was used to much in racing with the light-weighted Scortic and had nothing left when the real racing came All Saints quit after going seven furlongs.
